Imagine Dragons (1) – Week Of October 28, 2017

Hey guys! Welcome to this year's edition of the Halloweekend Countdown. I hope you guys had a great Halloween. It really didn't feel like Halloween to me this year. I don't know why. Anyway, Kid Kelly hosted the countdown this week (please come back, Spyder). I don't know where in their right minds they thought he would be a good host. I'm fine with him on the weekday shows. But for the Weekend Countdown, we need someone else to host when Spyder Harrison is "sick". No songs leaving the countdown this week. So let's get right into it!

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Camila Cabello – Havana (+13)

You Already Blurb
~ I'm not too surprised about Thunder being #1, especially since it's been #1 for a while now on iTunes. While it's nowhere near their best work, I'm okay with having this at the top. It's one of the better songs currently in the Top 5 out of two. That being said, I'd actually appreciate if this song held the #1 spot until we get some better songs into the Top 5.

~ Entering the Top 5 this week is Taylor Swift – Look What You Made Me Do. I don't think this song should be this high. It's not as big of a hit as it probably intended to be. It did not live up to Shake It Off in my opinion. I really would like if this song did not hit #1. But it's Hits 1. So who knows what's gonna happen?

~ Returning to the Top 10 this week, we have P!nk – What About Us and Macklemore/Skylar Grey – Glorious. I'm very happy about both of these and hope they can stick around for a little while longer.

~ Camila Cabello – Havana made a big jump this week into the Top 20. I had a feeling this would happen at some point with how high it is on iTunes. I'm actually okay with this. This song is a lot better than pretty much all of her other songs.

~ I'm not too happy about the sudden drop from Mono Mind – Save Me A Place. It's still a really cool song and I hope it can stick around for a little while longer. It deserves this kind of recognition.

~ And of course, The Script – Rain just had to fall right back down out of the Top 30. While it may not be successful here, it's still a great song to me and there's a very good chance it'll appear in my Top 45 of 2017.

~ So on Friday night, there was a tribute concert for Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington. They basically performed a ton of Linkin Park's biggest hits with some special guests. I didn't actually know about it until I stumbled upon a video of Mike Shinoda performing A Light That Never Comes with Steve Aoki and Bebe Rexha, which was pretty good. If you're interested, the whole concert was streamed live on Linkin Park's YouTube and can found here.

  1. I see that Look What You Made Me Do is starting to fade on you. My guess is you don't want it to become something you don't want it to be. And some kind of good news for you: it won't get that chance at #1, because its faltering big time elsewhere, especially in radio. Plus, it just dropped big down to #25 on Billboard.

  2. It is Never Let You Go featuring John Newman, Adrian.

    1. For the past week, he's been releasing a new song everyday from his new album. I didn't want to pick just one in particular because they're all really good.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, I agree. Kygo has a lot of good stuff in his new album. For me, there's one song in particular that I really, really like (hint: its successor to It Ain't Me).

      Delete
    3. I'm guessing that's First Time (probably because it features Ellie Goulding).

I do love that song too. I've loved it ever since it was released back in April. I think if I had to choose one as my favorite, it would probably be Stranger Things featuring OneRepublic. But With You featuring Wrabel is really good too.

      Delete
    4. Bingo. Ellie Goulding never lets me down. Easily my favorite track from his new album. Too bad it didn't get the attention it deserves (not a Charlie Puth reference)

I haven't given the other two songs a listen yet, but there was one other song that was on the YouTube 15 not too long ago. It's titled This Town, which features newcomer Sasha Sloan.

  4. Nice job Adrian. It also didn't feel like Halloween to me. Probably because I picked a costume at the last minute. I didn't like this week's countdown. There is old trash clogging up the countdown and I am mad Sweat is not doing well.

  7. Why is TNHMB and LWWYMMD in Blue?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Because he’s starting to get sick of them.

      Delete
    2. He's not getting sick of LWYMMD. He never loved it very much in the first place and it's just fading on him a lot.

      Delete
    3. Graham: What I was gonna say. Well, he'll be relieved to hear that it's fading fast elsewhere right now. Thus, he won't have to worry about it for too much longer.

      Delete
    4. TNHMB has been here for a very long time, so it only makes sense that it would start to fade at some point.

Graham is right with LWYMMD. It's just fading on me because it was never really a great song to begin with. I guess I just prefer her 1989-type songs. I find it a little hard to really get into her new songs the way I was into 1989.
