Panic! At The Disco (1) – Week Of May 21, 2016

And just like that, we have another re-entrant that manages to top the countdown. I still don't love it as much as before. I don't really think it tops Miss Jackson, their previous countdown song. But I'll take it over Stressed Out and Cake By The Ocean. Kid Kelly filled in for Spyder Harrison this week after he (allegedly) lost his voice. I thought he was okay. He talks really fast which got a little annoying at times. Before we get to this week's Fresh 45, here are the songs we're saying goodbye to this week.

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Meghan Trainor – No (–16)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Justin Timberlake – Can't Stop The Feeling (+12)

New Entrants
~ The Summer Set is back with their new song, Figure Me Out. The song overall is okay. There's not spectacular about it. It seems like the new Tryon – Somebody To Love Me since that one is fading away. But honestly, I don't think The Summer Set will have anything that reaches the height of Boomerang. I was in love with that one. This one......not so much.

~ Alright, who's up next? Who? Jason Derulo? Oh god. Jason Derulo really hasn't been on my good side with his latest pieces of trash. But this week's debut, If It Ain't Love, is actually something different. It has a catchy beat. It seems like a song I may jam out to every now and then. But I can definitely see myself getting sick of this one if it gets overplayed. As I've been saying, his new stuff does not come close to being as good as his older stuff. Remember Whatcha Say, In My HeadDon't Wanna Go Home, and It Girl? Those were all masterpieces. Maybe I'll do a Top 10 list for Jason Derulo soon. That would be pretty interesting.

~ With the highest debut of the week, we have The Chainsmokers with Daya and their single, Don't Let Me Down. I think vocal-wise, this song easily tops Roses. But it's still a tough competition as to which song is better. As far as Don't Let Me Down goes, we have some nice vocals from Daya and a catchy chorus. I definitely see myself jamming out to this song and I hope it does well on the countdown.

Don't Let Me Blurb
~ Nick Jonas/Tove Lo – Close is declining way earlier than expected. I actually think this song is better than Levels. Hits 1 apparently thinks otherwise.

~ In terms of mediocrity in the Top 10, while we thankfully gave Meghan Trainor – No the boot down to #20, the bland Work From Home by Fifth Harmony and at this point the annoying Pillowtalk from Zayn Malik have entered the Top 10. I don't hate Work From Home, which is why I don't really care as much about it's presence in the Top 10. Pillowtalk on the other hand, needs to make its way towards the bottom of the countdown.

~ I didn't think X Ambassadors – Unsteady would stay long. It's like a repeat of Jungle.

~ This week was a good week in terms of exits. We got rid of three huge pieces of trash this week. We're slowly getting rid of all the bad songs (even though some of them are being replaced by mediocre songs).

~ Hard to believe Rachel Platten – Stand By You is still here. I remember its floppy start on the countdown and I was thinking that it wouldn't last long. I could not have been more wrong.

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Go check it out if you haven't already! Find out if P!nk can hold at #1 for a fourth week in a row with Just Like Fire!

~ The Billboard Music Awards will be on tonight! I'm planning to watch and depending on how the night goes, I will probably post a review for each performance. So stay tuned!

Throwback Pick Of The Week: Jason Derulo – It Girl

Most Missed Countdown Song: Gwen Stefani – Baby Don't Lie

#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Drake/WizKid/Kyla – One Dance

Favorite Countdown Song This Week One Year Ago: Taylor Swift – Bad Blood

My Top 5 Picks
1. Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza
2. P!nk – Just Like Fire
3. Ellie Goulding – Something In The Way You Move
4. James Bay – Let It Go
5. The Chainsmokers/Daya – Don't Let Me Down

  2. "No" was the bugged drop?

    Yeah!

  3. I can't believe that Victorious is #1. I don't hate this song, I actually still really like it. But why couldn't Hits 1 have other Panic! song on here from their latest album like Hallelujah, Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time, Crazy=Genius, L.A. Devotee, Golden Days, or even Emperor's New Clothes for God's sake?

I think I was the only one who still liked Drag Me Down.

I don't get how Sit Still, Look Pretty was the highest debut last week, and then drops down 4 spots on its second week.

I may have officially grown into Let It Go this week.

I don't care about Figure Me Out at all.

I hope If It Ain't Love and Don't Let Me Down stays on here, and charts into the top 5.

I really thought Work was going to drop out this week, considering it had only 1 spin. But I still really like this song.

Just Like Fire and Never Forget You need to be higher.

WHO IN THE 7 CIRCLES OF HELL IS VOTING FOR WORK FROM HOME TO JUMP BACK INTO THE TOP 10!?!?!?!?!?!

I thought that In The Night would have dropped out this week.

I was not expecting Unsteady and No to drop this week.

    Close should have been higher.

Make Me Like You had almost no airplay at all this week, but somehow it managed to jump 2 spots.

    History doesn't even belong here.

Expect Can't Stop The Feeling to jump in the top 10 soon.

I'm glad Pillowtalk is back in the top 10.

Let's get Ride back in the top 20.

  5. Miles here is a question for you:

WHO IN THE 7 CIRCLES OF HELL COULD POSSIBLY HATE WORK FROM HOME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. People with sense of what is actually good pop music.

Work From Home is basically every pop cliché in the book. Bland, boring, generic 4 not pattern, lyrics are all about sex, and a ripoff of another song.

You and WAMB10 wouldn't understand anyway, because you young minds couldn't comprehend the truth.

      Delete
    2. Sorry, that was for Parker's comment.

      Delete
    3. Again, Work From Home is bland, boring, generic 4 note pattern, another song all about sex, and a ripoff of an already terrible song, Gotta Get Thru This by Daniel Bedingfield.

      Delete
    4. Oh and Miles I still like Drag Me Down

      Delete
    5. So why didn't you say anything about Drag Me Down for months?

      Delete
    6. Its supposed to be sad. Its a song about his dad and how he wants to have a happy life, not a sad and cold life.

      Delete
    7. I thoroughly agree with Miles about 7 Years. It's a very sweet song.

As far as Work From Home goes, I understand what Miles is saying. But honestly, it's nowhere near as bad as Work by Rihanna.

      Delete
    8. The thing that I think separates Work and Work From home is in the lyrics.

"You mistaken my love I brought for you for foundation
All that I wanted from you was to give me
      Something that I never had
      Something that you've never seen
      Something that you've never been!"

      "Beg you something please
      Baby don't you leave
Don't leave me stuck here in the streets, uh huh
If I get another chance to
I will never, no never neglect you
I mean who am I to hold your past against you?
I just hope that it gets to you
I hope that you see this through
I hope that you see this true
      What can I say?
      Please recognize I'm tryin', babe!"

      "Long distance, I need you
When I see potential I just gotta see it through
If you had a twin, I would still choose you
I don't wanna rush into it, if it's too soon
But I know you need to get done, done, done, done
      If you come over"

I will admit the chorus, while extremely repetitive if not annoying, I actually find it catchy. So I can understand where Adrian is coming from when it come to Rihanna's Work.

      Compared to Work From Home:

"You don't gotta go to work, work, work, work, work, work, work
But you gotta put in work, work, work, work, work, work, work
You don't gotta go to work, work, work, work, work, work, work
Let my body do the work, work, work, work, work, work, work, work
We can work from home, oh, oh, oh-oh
We can work from home, oh, oh, oh-oh"

      "Let's put it into motion
      I'mma give you a promotion
I'll make it feel like a vacay, turn the bed into an ocean
We don't need nobody, I just need your body
Nothin' but sheets in between us, ain't no getting off early

I know you're always on the night shift
But I can't stand these nights alone
And I don't need no explanation
'Cause baby, you're the boss at home"

"Girl, go to work for me
Can you make it clap, no hands for me?
Take it to the ground, pick it up for me
Look back at it all over me
Put in work like my timesheet
She ride it like a '63
      I'mma buy her no Celine
Let her ride in a foreign with me
Oh, she the bae, I'm her boo
And she down to break the rules
Ride or die, she gon' go
      I won't judge, she finesse
I pipe up, she take that
      Putting overtime on your body"

      Ew!

    1. Something this past week just made me really enjoy I Took A Pill In Ibiza to the point where it was the song I listened to most during the week.

Pillowtalk was close to green at the beginning of it's tenure. But it just never made it there and now I'm tired of hearing all the time not only on Hits 1, but also on FM radio stations.

    2. Pillowtalk was in green in its first few weeks.

    3. I remember saying when I Took A Pill In Ibiza first debuted I said "Here's something I never thought I'd say, the best song of 2016 so far is by Mike Posner."

How much times change in 1 month. I still really like it, but I never thought that a summer smash from JT, or a song from a Disney soundtrack by P!nk would be better.

I thought Pillowtalk was really boring the first time I heard it. Then that powerhouse of a chorus changed everything I thought of it.

  12. New Entrants:

The Summer Set - Figure Me Out is a pretty catchy song with nice vocals. Not much else to say about it. I kind of lose interest in the verses, but everything else about this song is pretty solid.

My biggest problem with Jason Derulo - If It Ain’t Love is that it’s really bland and uninteresting. Talk Dirty, Trumpets, and Want To Want Me were all much, much, much better when they came out. This song isn’t annoying, but it just has nothing to it. His choice of “weird instrument” this time isn’t that great.

The best entrant this week comes from The Chainsmokers/Daya - Don’t Let Me Down. As most of you know, I hated Roses and #Selfie when they first came out, but I grew into them, albeit not enjoying the long instrumentals. This song has excellent vocals, a satisfying amount of singing, and a catchy beat and tune, and I hope it does well.

    Don’t Let Blurbs Down:

Our exits were definitely necessary. Thank you Hits 1 for getting rid of them. One Direction - Drag Me Down was getting dangerously close to lasting a year, and nobody wants that to happen.

I will almost definitely never put Rachel Platten - Stand By You in anything but green from now on, and for some strange reason I still really enjoy Shawn Mendes/Camila Cabello - I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Zara Larsson/MNEK - Never Forget You has edged out Fifth Harmony - Work From Home into my top five picks. I think MNEK’s vocals sound like he’s trying to put too much emotion into the song, but everything else is really good.

I forced myself to listen to Tryon - Somebody To Love Me all the way through, and I actually started hating it less. The pre-chorus is actually pretty good, even if everything else is bad. That’s why it’s no longer in orange.

    -FruitFarmer

  13. Without Somebody To Love Me being as horrible as I thought and Coldplay - Adventure Of A Lifetime gone, there are really no songs that are distinguishably the worst. James Bay - Let It Go is so boring it’s the worst for now, but Jason Derulo - If It Ain’t Love may soon take the crown (maybe crown isn’t the right word).

We have a small biggest jump of the week, but it was expected. Get ready for me to rage about the biggest drop.

OH MY FREAKING GOSH WHY DID MEGHAN TRAINOR - NO HAVE TO DROP?! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! THERE WAS ONE REALLY GOOD SONG IN THE TOP FIVE AND IT TOOK A PLUMMET BACK TO THE THE TEENS! I AM SERIOUSLY GOING TO LOSE MY HEAD IF THIS SONG DOESN’T GET BACK INTO THE TOP TEN!

Okay, I’m done with that. Moving right along to our #1 song. I am surprised that this song left and came back to do much better and hit #1. Quite impressive. I don’t like this song at #1 much, but I’ll take it any day over #3 and #4. It grew back on me a little back.

Nick Jonas/Tove Lo - Close is really flopping harshly. I don’t care that much, but all the same I would give it a chance.

Our top five is looking really grim right now, and I would be annoyed with 80% of the songs hitting #1….

Which brings us to Troye Sivan - Youth. It’s astonishing how well this song has been doing given that at first it looked like an early exit. I would like this song to hit #1 over the four songs in front of it, but it still hasn’t budged from that 4-6 spot, mostly because of……

THE STUPID FLO RIDA - MY HOUSE IS STILL IN THE TOP FIVE! WHO STILL LIKES THIS SONG?! GO AWAY! NOW! BEFORE I PUT YOU BACK IN MY BOTTOM FIVE PICKS!

Okay. Sorry for the interruption. Looks like We The Kings - Story Of Tonight will be leaving soon. That would be fine with me.

Daya now has two songs on the countdown (counting Don’t Let Me Down, which The Chainsmokers wrote). They both debuted really high. Just thought I should point that out.

I can’t believe The Weeknd - In The Night took an eleven spot jump after re-entering. Please don’t get any higher.

Fifth Harmony - Work From Home was destined to get back into the top ten, but I’m still happy it happened so soon.

P!nk - Just Like Fire is going to become a big hit, I’m calling it right now. So many people love it, and I like it a lot too.

Zayn Malik - Pillowtalk is back in the top ten. Not necessary. There are much better songs in the teens.

I rounded Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman up to green.

It sucks that G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself, and I and Gwen Stefani - Make Me Like You haven’t recovered from their big drops.

Random song I started enjoying: Zedd/Selena Gomez - I Want You To Know

    Top Five Picks:
    1. Elle King - America’s Sweetheart
    2. Meghan Trainor - NO
    3. Mike Posner - I Took A Pill In Ibiza
    4. Zara Larsson/MNEK - Never Forget You
    5. G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha - Me, Myself, and I

    Bottom Five Picks:
    1. James Bay - Let It Go
    2. Jason Derulo - If It Ain’t Love
    3. Adele - Hello
    4. One Direction - Perfect
    5. Tryon - Somebody To Love Me

Glad that No took a big drop, that song has really worn out on me. And am I the only one who really dislikes Just Like Fire?

And I have to say, I didn't like Victorious much at first, but its mad rock edge has made it grow on me.

    6. Its not a favorite song of all time or even of the decade list. Its a list of the 20 best and worst #1 hits that every happened on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 2000s.

And I just want to say this, your list really sucks. Most of the songs are from 2010 and on. Can't you come up with more songs from the 2000s and before? When I think of the word all time, the first thing to come to mind is anything from 1955 to 2013.

Here's a good list of my 50 favorite songs of all time:

      50. Firework- Katy Perry
      49. Lady Marmalade- Christina Aguilera/Lil' Kim/Mýa/Pink
      48. Photograph- Nickelback
      47. Hot In Herre- Nelly
      46. Let Me Love You- Mario
      45. Get Busy- Sean Paul
      44. Pon De Replay- Rihanna

      41. Bye, Bye, Bye- N'Sync
      40. Run it- Chris Brown
      39. Pocketful Of Sunshine- Natasha Bedingfield
      38. Stronger- Kanye West
      37. Fallin'- Alicia Keys
      36. Independent Woman- Destiny's Child
      35. Genie In A Bottle- Christina Aguilera
      34. Mirrors- Justin Timeberlake
      33. Umbrella- Rihanna/Jay-Z
      32. Temperature- Sean Paul
      31. Whenever, Whereever- Shakira
      30. Toxic- Britney Spears
      29. All I Want For Christmas- Mariah Carey
      28. Crazy In Love- Beyonce/Jay-Z
      27. One Week- Barenaked Ladies
      26. Say My Name- Destiny's Child
      25. Love Story- Taylor Swift

      20. 1999- Prince
      19. Wannabe- Spice Girls
      18. Baby One More Time- Britney Spears
      17. Belive- Cher
      16. Candle In The Wind '97- Elton John
      15. Thriller- Michael Jackson
      14. Apalogize- Timbaland/OneRepublic
      13. Beat It- Michael Jackson
      12. My Heart Will Go On- Celine Dion
      11. Bad- Michael Jackson
      10. I Love Rock N' Roll- Joan Jett & The Blackhearts
      9. Yeah- Usher/Ludacris/Lil Jon
      8. Wanna Be Startin' Something- Michael Jackson
      7. Rhythm Nation- Janet Jackson
      6. I Will Always Love You
      5. We Belong Together= Mariah Carey
      4. Smooth- Santana/Rob Thomas
      3. Hey Jude- The Beatles
      2. Macarena- Los Del Rio/Bayside Boys
      1. One Sweet Day- Mariah Carey/Boyz II Men

And the reason I like One Sweet Day is the message in the lyrics alone. And unlike you and Adrian, I don't find Mariah's voice awful, I find it soothing and greatly talented. Her 5-octave vocal range, soothing melodies, the power, passion and style in most of her songs makes her (and many will agree) one of the best artists of all time.

      Wings is a great song.
Kendrick Lamar is the best rapper currently making music.
Fifth Harmony sold out this year.

I Wanna Fuck You and Ass Like That are awful.

    16. What I Disagree About With Parker:
      Lots of Eminem songs suck.
I hate Anaconda so much, definitely my least favorite song of all time.
Get Ugly sucks so much so it's my worst song of 2016.
Some of one Direction's songs sucks.
      I Love It is awful.
      To Be Contunued...

    17. #1 things you both are wrong about.

Parker thinks that there is no such thing as a bad Eminem song, and WAMB10 thinks there is not such thing as a bad Fifth Harmony song. Both of them are wrong because they both have 1 bad song or even more. Anyone who says that an artist is perfect is completely wrong. Its the same with bad artists, while they do have a lot of bad songs, many have some particular songs that stand out as their best.

      Worst songs by good artists:
      LoveStoned- Justin Timberlake
      OMG- Usher/will.i.am.
This Is How We Do- Katy Perry
      Dark Horse- Katy Perry/Juicy J
      Mean- Taylor Swift
      Magic- Coldplay
      She-Wolf- Shakira
      Pour It Up- Rihanna
      Touch My Body- Mariah Carey
      Spark The Fire- Gwen Stefani
      Fack- Eminem
      Get Ugly- Jason Derulo
      Work From Home- Fifth Harmony
      Acapella- Karmin
      Bitch I'm Madonna- Madonna/Nicki Minaj
      Blah, Blah, Blah- Ke$ha/3OH!3
      Hello Kitty- Avril Lavigne

      Best Songs by bad artists:
Where Are U Now- Skrillex/Diplo/Justin Bieber
      Sorry- Justin Bieber
We Own It- Wiz Khalifa/2 Chainz
See You Again- Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth
      Belly Dancer- Akon
