DNCE (3) – Week Of May 7, 2016

So........I finish school in a few weeks. I honestly can't believe I'm not that far away from becoming a senior in high school. Everyone was right. Four years really do fly by. Hopefully as summertime comes along, I'll have more time to spend on this blog and stuff. That's what I need right now. I'm pretty behind on some things. But I'll find a way to catch up. No songs leaving the countdown this week. So let's get right to it.

#1 Song This Week One Year Ago: Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha – Me, Myself, & I (–22)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Demi Lovato – Confident (+20)

Make Me Like Blurbs
~ I'm not even going to comment on the ridiculous jump from Demi Lovato – Confident back into the Top 10.

~ We had two very upsetting drops this week, the first from Ellie Goulding. I still think Something In The Way You Move is a really catchy song. It may be a long time until I get sick of it, if I ever do. I would like it to stay longer and have the inferior On My Mind exit soon. Me, Myself, & I from G-Eazy was very under-appreciated and underrated by Hits 1 as it has dropped to the bottom of the countdown. I doubt it'll make a rebound, but it'd be nice if it did.

~ We really don't need anymore mediocrity in the form of Meghan Trainor – No at #1. We still have the same good four songs behind it.

~ Charlie Puth – One Call Away made a little bit of an obnoxious jump back into the Top 20. This song is so boring. I see nothing interesting in it whatsoever. :/

~ I'm perfectly fine with Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman dropping. In fact, let it drop some more. That'd be 100% okay with me!

~ Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime continues to hold on for dear life. I still enjoy this song. I still don't care when it leaves. But I'm just going to say that we have worse songs to get rid of first.

~ Selena Gomez – Same Old Love seriously needs to leave. This song has been way too overplayed and is just plain out bad. It's worse than Good For You, and that one was actually pretty bad after a while. We're probably never going to get anything from her that reaches the height of Love You Like A Love Song.

~ We The Kings – The Story Of Tonight was destined to drop after a short amount of time.

~ Zayn Malik – Pillowtalk took a pretty quick drop out of the Top 10. Perfectly fine by me considering that I am sick of this song at this point.

~ Am I happy that One Direction – History dropped a little bit? Yes. This song has lost all popularity everywhere else. Am I happy that Perfect jumped because of the drop? No. I would've rather kept History. But honestly, three One Direction songs on the countdown is pretty ridiculous since at the very least, two of them should be gone by now.

~ I'm still waiting for Hits 1 to get rid of Rihanna/Drake – Work. This song isn't getting any less annoying. In fact, the longer it stays, the more obnoxious it gets, which is probably why it's the worst song on the countdown.

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if P!nk can hold at #1 for a second week in a row with Just Like Fire!

Throwback Pick Of The Week: Timbaland/Keri Hilson/D.O.E. – The Way I Are

Most Missed Countdown Song: Gym Class Heroes/Adam Levine – Stereo Hearts

#1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Drake/WizKid/Kyla – One Dance

Favorite Countdown Song This Week One Year Ago: Tie Between The Weeknd – Earned It and Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again

~ And finally, Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there! :)

My Top 5 Picks
1. P!nk – Just Like Fire
2. Ellie Goulding – Something In The Way You Move
3. G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha – Me, Myself, & I
4. Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza
5. James Bay – Let It Go

    1. This may be the worst top 3 in a while. No is a contender for Worst Song of the Year, Stressed Out is so old it's growing mold, and Crap by the Ocean is crap.

    2. No is pretty mediocre at this point. Stressed Out and Cake By The Ocean are pretty old. We just need some better music at the top. :/

    3. This countdown is going seriously downhill

      The hit-bound thing needs to go

      15 songs is all that can qualify for this list at A Time

      And some stay on there for months and months even after losing popularity

      It's ridiculous

    Why is Out Of The Woods in green?
    Why is Just Lile Fire in purple?

    Why is Work From Home in blue?
    Why is Ride in red?
    Why is I Know What You Did Last Summer in yellow?
    Why is Dangerous Woman in blue?

    1. - Oops. That should be in pink.
      - Just Like Fire is awesome to sum it all up.
      - Cake By The Ocean is really old and needs to start moving down.
      - It got boring.
      - It's still disinteresting and bland at best.
      - It should be in turquoise. Color-coding mistake.
      - Same as Work From Home. It got boring.
      - I actually really like Let It Go. I have finally grown into it.
      - Probably the best 5 Seconds Of Summer song in a while.
      - I'm starting to get sick of it.
      - Still really catchy. Can't get sick of that chorus.
      - Sorry is still really good. And Justin Bieber is bae. ;)
      - It's okay I guess. Certainly not bad, but not really good either.
      - Roses is still a fun song to listen to.
      - I'm getting sick of Victorious.
      - 7 Years has a really nice meaning behind it that managed to make it an overall, good song.

  6. I was expecting at least 1 entrant this week. The entrant being Cheap Thrills and the exit to be Get Ugly.

    Why did Cake By The Ocean have to hit #1 this week? We could have had Stressed Out stay at #1, NO, or Pillowtalk.

    Speaking of which, why did Pillowtalk have to drop to #20? That song should have at least have 1 week at #1.

    YES! Work From Home finally dropped out of the top 10. Now let's get it out of the countdown.

    Damn it Hits 1, One Call Away should have left. Its lost its momentum and should leave.

    Never Forget You should have jumped in the top 20 and have the biggest jump, not Confident.

    Why is Perfect, a song that lost all popularity months ago, back in the top 10?

    Ride should be higher up.

    Just Like Fire needs to hit the top 10 fast.

    Dangerous Woman should not have dropped out of the top 20.

    Work shouldn't even be near the bottom, it should have been in the top 10 already.

    Am I still the only one who still likes Hello, and Hands To Myself?

    Everyone needs to stop complaining about how there is no 7 exit week so far this year. Be patient, there will be one by the end of summer... probably.

  20. This week in Billboard Chart History: 10 years ago, Rihanna's SOSbecame her first Hot 100 #1.

    RiRi earned her first of 14 Hot 100 leaders. Plus, remembering chart feats by Roxette, Lionel Richie & Janet Jackson.

    May 9, 1998
    The Titanic soundtrack spent its 16th and final week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The following week, Dave Matthews Band's Before These Crowded Streets replaced Titanic at the summit.

    May 10, 1986
    They didn't work in a pet shop, and, thankfully so, since they make pretty good musicians. Thirty years ago today, England's Pet Shop Boys danced to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their debut smash, "West End Girls." The pair continues to pad its legacy, having recently scored its first No. 1 on Top Dance/Electronic Albums, Super, in more than 13 years, while the set's first single, "The Pop Kids," became Pet Shop Boys' 11th career No. 1 on Dance Club Songs.

    May 11, 1991
    Sweden's most famous musical duo, Roxette, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Joyride." The album from the pair also produced the No. 2-peaking "Fading Like a Flower (Every Time You Leave)" and the top 40 hits "Spending My Time" and "Church of Your Heart." Roxette's new album, Good Karma, arrives June 3.

    May 12, 1984
    Before there was Adele's … 32 years ago today, Lionel Richie's "Hello" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first of two weeks.

    May 13, 2006
    A decade of dominance: 10 years ago today, Rihanna hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time with "SOS." Amazingly, she's added 13 more No. 1s since then, tallying the second-most leaders (14 total), among women all-time. Among all acts, only the Beatles (20) and Mariah Carey (18) have more. As Def Jam CEO Steve Bartels told Billboard in 2015, "Rihanna felt like a massive star the very time I met her. You could feel her burning drive to succeed when you looked in her eyes."

    May 14, 1988
    Gloria Estefan made her first trip to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with love song "Anything for You" (with Miami Sound Machine). She reigned again with "Don't Wanna Lose You" in 1989 and "Coming Out of the Dark" in 1991.

    May 15, 1993
    After scoring seven Billboard Hot 100 top 10s from her 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814, Janet Jackson picked up right where she left off, as "That's the Way Love Goes," the first single from janet., began an eight-week run at No. 1.

  21. This is your Billboard Breakdown!

    I really shouldn't be surprised that One Dance is #1, because the sales and streaming of the new album Views got by debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200.

    And while One Dance got there due to airplay and sales, there is no songs that I can find on the highlights with the biggest gain in streaming.

    Panda drops down to #2.

    7 Years holds at #3.

    I Took A Pill In Ibiza jumps to #4.

    Work From Home (unfortunately) jumps to #5.

    Work holds at #6.

    Don't Let Me Down jumps into the top 10 at #7.

    Pillowtalk rebounds to #8.

    This Is What You Came For by Calvin Harris and Rihanna is this week's Hot Shot debut at #9.

    Love Yourself rebounds back into the top 10 at... #10.

    Needed Me blasts into the top 20 at #13.

    Our new top 20 entrant is H.O.L.Y by Florida Georgia Line at #20.

    Pop Style rebound from #40 to #21.

    Rebounding from their loses last week includes:

    Cake By The Ocean 24->22
    Never Forget You 26->23
    Low Life 29->24
    Oui 30->25
    2 Phones 32->26
    Sorry 31->27
    Middle 34->30
    Close 36->31
    Let It Go 42->32
    Exchange 44->35
    Stitches 45->36
    One Call Away 46->39
    Somewhere On A Beach 51->41
    Lost Boy 55->42
    Roses 48->43
    Cheap Thrills 54->48
    Just Like Fire 75->55

    Apparently every single Beyoncé debut from last week fell except Sorry, which is holding at #11.

    And every Prince song has now fallen off. This also gives Prince a new record for the biggest drop offs, as When Doves Cry falls off at #8 and Purple Rain falls off at #4. :(

    As Drake's new album Views is now the #1 album he also has multiple debuts from that album as well.

    Hype, Controlla, Grammys, Still Here, U With Me, 9, With You, Childs Play, Too Good, Feel No Ways, Weston Road Flows, Redemption, Keep The Family Close, Faithful, Fire & Desire, and Views all debuting on the Hot 100 this week. And I am too tired to give you their debut positions.

    6 Inch drops 10 spots to #28.

    Don't Hurt Yourself drops to #37.

    All Night drops to #64, Freedom down to #65, and Daddy Lessons down to #66.

    Pray You Catch Me drops to #70 and Sandcastles down to #71.

    Love Drought down to #73.

    My Church down to #80.

    Youth down to #83.

    Team down to #88.

    Summer Sixteen drown to #89.

    Promise down to #91.

    Famous down to #95.

    Confession down to #96.

    #97 is I Like The Sound Of That, down 19.

    Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 down to #98.

    Finally, this weeks big dropouts: Acquainted, Company, Jumpman, I Would Die 4 U, 1999, Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret, Let's Go Crazy, and Kiss.
