Twenty One Pilots (4) – Week Of April 23, 2016

Hey guys! I'm happy to say that we did get rid of one huge piece of trash this week. The other exit was pretty unfortunate. It's also nice to have Cake By The Ocean not at #1 this week. However, the Top 5 isn't looking so hot. Maybe next week we can get some better songs in there. In other news, this post is posted a couple of days later than usual. New Entrants
~ Gwen Stefani is back once again. Baby Don't Lie and Used To Love You were both flops on this countdown, which is why I'm not so sure about how Make Me Like You will do. I do think this song sounds a lot different than Used To Love You and others like Hollaback Girl as Make Me Like You is a downright pop song. It's pretty damn catchy, so I do give it that. Gwen Stefani has one of those voices where if it's not used "correctly", it can sound annoying. Used To Love You had some parts where her voice was annoying. But I think she uses her voice very nicely in Make Me Like You. Overall, I do like this song.

~ Mike Posner is back! Hopefully, we all remember that extremely catchy debut single of his from 2010, Cooler Than Me. If not, shame on you because that song was amazing (just kidding lol). Seriously though, that song was really good. He's back with I Took A Pill In Ibiza, a song that's pretty much about drugs. I feel like the music video is a good representation of the song's meaning. So go ahead and watch that if you want to get deeper into this song and its meaning. It is catchy. I really like Mike Posner's voice. I've liked it ever since Cooler Than Me. Overall, it is really good and I do want to see this song do well on the countdown.

I Wrote A Blurb In Ibiza
~ In terms of songs that should never ever again do what they did this week, Selena Gomez – Hands To Myself has hit a new peak at #3. Honestly, can we not with this song?

~ It didn't take long for me to grow out of Fifth Harmony – Work From Home, Meghan Trainor – No, and Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman. I'm just starting to realize that all of these songs are missing something to help make them catchy songs.

~ Hopefully this is the end of Dawin – Dessert. Talk about annoying.

~ If you are a fan of Lukas Graham, please do not judge me as I just realized that they are a band as opposed to a solo artist. Anyway, 7 Years is now in the Top 10. I'm starting to really appreciate this song for the sweet song it is.

~ Taylor Swift – Out Of The Woods made quite a massive jump up to #24 this week. I still kind of like this song, so I'm not necessarily angry by this jump. This song was able to stick with me for a little while longer than songs like Wildest Dreams and Style.

~ Tryon – Somebody To Love Me and We The Kings – The Story Of Tonight are just a couple of those songs that make it on to Hits 1 and Hits 1 only. They seem to not be going anywhere, which is why I don't think they'll last much longer.

~ Speaking of songs that debut on Hits 1 only, Shawn Hook – Sound Of Your Heart fell in that trap exiting the countdown after only three weeks. It sucks because I actually liked that song quite a bit.

~ Grace – You Don't Own Me is really lacking some success on this countdown. I do like this song, so I would like to see it jump a little more.

~ P!nk – Just Like Fire debuted Hit-Bound this week. Let's just say that right off the bat, it is the new best song on Hit-Bound. That is all I will say about it. ;)

~ Jason Derulo – Get Ugly has been hanging on in the Bottom 5 for quite a while now. We have a ton of good songs on Hit-Bound that should definitely be in place of this song. So I would appreciate if we could make that happen.

~ Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime is also hanging on for dear life. As Coldplay is still my favorite band of all time, I do still enjoy this song a ton. Although it'll probably leave in a couple of weeks, I don't mind it staying for as long as it likes.

~ Although I'm getting pretty tired of Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out, I'll take it over Cake By The Ocean any week.

~ Next weekend is in fact my birthday weekend. My birthday is next Monday. I'm hoping we can have a good countdown week next week which includes getting rid of some of the trash on this countdown and replacing with some of the many good songs on Hit-Bound.

~ So the reason my post wasn't out on Saturday was because on Saturday night, I had my junior prom. Saturday was entirely preparation for the dance and then Sunday was the day where I did all my work for school. Monday was just a typical busy Monday. But aside from that, the dance was really fun! Here are the songs I remember them playing:

  • Ariana Grande – Dangerous Woman
  • DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine – Middle
  • DJ Snake/Lil Jon – Turn Down For What
  • Drake/Future – Jumpman
  • Fergie/Q-Tip/GoonRock – A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)
  • Fetty Wap – Trap Queen
  • Fetty Wap/Remy Boyz – 679
  • Fifth Harmony/Ty Dolla $ign – Work From Home
  • Flo Rida – Good Feeling
  • Flo Rida – My House
  • Flo Rida/T-Pain – Low
  • Flo Rida/Sage The Gemini/Lookas – GDFR (Yes, they played a ton of Flo Rida.)
  • Iggy Azalea – Work
  • Jason Derulo/2 Chainz – Talk Dirty
  • Jay-Z/Kanye West – Ni**as In Paris
  • Justin Bieber – Sorry
  • Ke$ha – TiK ToK
  • LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem
  • Lukas Graham – 7 Years
  • Meghan Trainor/John Legend – Like I'm Gonna Lose You
  • Mike Posner/SeeB – I Took A Pill In Ibiza
  • Pitbull/TJR – Don't Stop The Party
  • Rihanna/Drake – Work
  • Silento – Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)
  • Skrillex/Sirah – Bangarang
  • Steve Aoki/Chris Lake/Tujamo – Boneless
  • Taylor Swift – Shake It Off
  • The Chainsmokers/Daya – Don't Let Me Down
  • The Chainsmokers/Rozes – Roses
  • Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance
  • Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
  • + more that I didn't know

I honestly did have a blast. If you're in school and you have dances like homecoming, prom, etc., I recommend you go to them. They're so fun. But yeah. That's why this post is posted a couple of days later than normal. We should be back on our normal schedule starting next week.

My Top 5 Of Those Songs
1. Ke$ha – TiK ToK
2. Skrillex/Sirah – Bangarang
3. DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine – Middle
4. LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem
5. Justin Bieber – Sorry

~ The Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Coldplay can hold on to #1 for a second week in a row and a fifth time overall with Hymn For The Weekend!

Most Missed Countdown Song: Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame

#1 Recommendation For The Countdown: DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine – Middle

Hit-Bound Song That Must Debut Soon: P!nk – Just Like Fire

My Top 5 Picks
1. G-Eazy/Bebe Rexha – Me, Myself, & I
2. Taylor Swift – New Romantics
3. Elle King – America's Sweetheart
4. Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza
5. Justin Bieber – Love Yourself

  5. I'm glad Stressed Out is #1, over Cake By The Ocean.

I'm glad that Out Of The Woods and Dessert had the biggest jump and drop, respectively. I'm still not tired of Out Of The Woods, and Dessert is just downright annoying.

I actually expected I Took A Pill In Ibiza to have debuted higher than Make Me Like You.

I'm got sick of NO in record time. All of this has to do with the lyrics. "My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no, you need to let it go" That's stupid, that's really stupid. This song tries to emulate the oh-so iconic late 90s R&B, but they just fuck everything up. The guitars are all style and no strength, the bass is barely there, and the melody sounds ripped off from Summer Love by Justin Timberlake. The percussion is a wreck, I didn't think it was possible to fuck up the 90s style percussion. All you need to do is keep it fast, tight, and put emphasis on the 3rd beat. Meghan's harmonization sounds bland and doesn't fight well here. The only part of the song that captures that 90s spirit is that little untouchable breakdown, but putting after the weak chorus makes it sound like an undeserved mic drop. You just said some of the dumbest shit, and you're walking around like you own the place. I can't believe I didn't notice this before, why does this always happen to me?

Work From Home is still the worst song so far of 2016. Seriously, who even listens to this.

The bottom 1/3 has a lot of old/bad songs that need to leave.

I expected Pillowtalk to be at #1, but I guess Zayn's not going to have one here, unlike the Hot 100.

Songs that need to leave: Hide Away, Get Ugly, Perfect, Work From Home, NO, Dessert and One Call Away.

I still have no full opinion on Youth.

I keep forgetting that certain songs are still on here like Hello and In The Night.

And then there are songs that don't belong here like, Let It Go, and We The Kings.

Best songs on Hit-Bound: Just Like Fire, Never Forget You and, Cheap Thrills.

Here's something I never thought I'd say, the best song of 2016 so far is by Mike Posner. And by the way people, this song is about being a forgotten one-hit wonder. Its especially noticeable in the lyrics. "I'm just a singer who already blew his shot, I get along with old timers, 'Cause my name's a reminder of a pop song people forgot."

    Top 5:
    1. I Took A Pill In Ibiza- Mike Posner/SeeB
    2. New Romantics- Taylor Swift
    3. Victorious- Panic! At The Disco
    4. Pillowtalk- Zayn Malik
    5. America's Sweetheart- Elle King

    Bottom 5:
    1. Work From Home- Fifth Harmony
    2. Dessert- Dawin
    3. One Call Away- Charlie Puth
    4. Get Ugly- Jason Derulo
    5. NO- Meghan Trainor

    Hits 1 recommendation:
    Middle- DJ Snake/Bipolar Sunshine

    Most Missed Song:
Love Me Like You Do- Ellie Goulding (Still love this song!!)

    Throwback Pick:
    Summer Love- Justin Timberlake

Okay, so a lot to talk about today. I hope Adrian did enjoy his junior prom, because I'm not going to mind, because I'm not spending $44n and I don't want to dress up.

Today my state of Pennsylvania, along with Maryland, Delaware, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are going to be voting today. And I can't vote yet. But my parents will, but my mom re-registered to Republican, and would vote for Trump, not Kasich or Cruz, because "Kasich is a waste of a vote, and I don't like Cruz anymore" . My dad, on the other hand is a Democrat, and said "I'm voting for Bernie just to piss off Hillary." Me, on the other hand, would either have voted for Kasich, Cruz or an independent candidate. And, over the summer, I hope to register to vote for the general election in November, and I would register myself as an independent. Because to me the Democrats have become a cancerous neo-communist/socialist party, and Republicans, are becoming the cancerous neo-fascist party if Trump is the nominee.

Sorry, for the very long political, and personal paragraph, I had a lot to say on it.

  6. This is your Billboard Breakdown!

Well we finally did it America. After a staggering 41 week drought, an American act has finally topped the Hot 100 chart. And its a rap song by some guy we never heard of before.

Panda also took the sales gain this week as well.

As Work slips down to #4, 7 Years jumps back up to #2, and One Dance jumps to #3 along with taking the biggest gains in streaming, and airplay.

To round out the top 5, Mike Posner's, I Took A Pill In Ibiza, surpasses the peak of his debut single Cooler Than Me from 2010.

Work From Home jumps to #6, NO slides down to #7, Pillowtalk to #8, Love Yourself at #9 and Me, Myself, & I holds at #10.

While our highest debut is Just Like Fire by P!nk at #42, our highest song to re-enter is Purple Rain by Prince at #17. I expect this has something to do with the gains in streaming, sales, and airplay after his death last week.

Also re-entering at #20 is When Doves Cry by Prince.

Sorry drops out of the top 20 from #16 to #21.

Needed Me jumps from #33 to #23.

Pop Style drops from #19 to #25.

Kiss and Little Red Corvette re-enter at #28 and #29 respectively.

Jumpman drops from #25 to #34.

Hands To Myself drops from #24 to #35.

Hello drops from #27 to #36.

    Let's Go Crazy and 1999 re-enter at #39 and #41.

Humble and Kind drops from #36 to #44.

The Hills drop from #39 to #48.

Lost Boy drops from #41 to #50.

You Should Be Here drops from #38 to #55.

Back To Sleep drops from #37 to #57.

Famous drops from #49 to #62.

Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1 drops from #54 to #64.

Summer Sixteen drops from #51 to #66.

Team drops from #59 to #67.

Kiss It Better jumps from #83 to #70.

New romantics drops from #46 to #78.

That Don't Sound Like You drops from #64 to #81.

Piece By Piece drops from #63 to #82.

Drunk On Your Love drops from #65 to #83.

If It Ain't Love jumps from #94 to #84.

Little bit of You drops from #71 to #88.

Ophelia drops from #66 to #89.

Might be drops from #79 to #92.

    Pt. 2 drops from #73 to #97.

And Finally, Jimmy Choo drops from #89 to #98.

I'm Miles, and this was your Billboard Breakdown!

      - I'm starting to get over it.
      - Jumpman is the typical lazy performance from Drake. Plus I can't stand Future.
      - I'm so sick of Same Old Love due to hearing it so much unlike Dessert and Work From Home. Also I can't stand that beginning to Same Old Love and that chorus is super annoying. Work From Home is still kinda catchy. Even Dessert is not as bad.
      - Demi Lovato really does keep me from hating a Fall Out Boy song.
      - I'm still sick of that song.
      - Sick of it, but don't hate it.

    2. I'm losing interest in Stressed Out, Pillowtalk, and New Romantics. I'm completely sick of the other songs on your great category.

    3. PILLOWTALK is good. I hate Stressed Out. I'm already over New Romantics.

    4. Then why did you just say the score was 100/100, implying that you love all the songs in the top 20.

  25. THAT'S WHY WE SING FOR THESE KIDS WHO DONT HAVE A THING

EXCEPT FOR A DREAM AND A F**KIN RAP MAGAZINE

WHO POST PIN UP PICTURES ON THEIR WALLS ALL DAY LONG

IDOLIZE THEY FAVORITE RAPPERS AND KNOW ALL THEIR SONGS

OR FOR ANYONE WHO'S EVER BEEN THROUGH S**T IN THEIR LIVES

AND THEY SIT AND THEY CRY AT NIGHT WISHING THEY'D DIE

TILL THEY THROW ON A RAP RECORD AND THEY SIT AND THEY VIBE

WITH NOTHING TO DO CAUSE WE'RE THE F**KING S**T IN THEIR EYES

    :D
