Wiz Khalifa (2) – Week Of May 30, 2015

After 13 weeks of our #1 song changing, we finally have a #1 song holding. I have to say, this was a hell of a week. Especially for a shorter week this week for airplay since Monday was occupied for the Memorial Day edition of the Weekend Countdown. Also, I have 8 days left of school. New Entrants
~ This week one artist had two songs debuting the countdown. It is non other than DJ Snake. If you flashback to last year, you'd remember that Turn Down For What failed to last longer than one week. Now he's got two new songs. Let's see how long both of them last. First we have Major Lazer/DJ Snake/MO – Lean On. I thought at first, this song had a lazy production. But I've grown into it. It's actually kind of catchy. So yeah. I think of Major Lazer to be an extremely lazy producer. But this song is an exception. I'm also enjoying MO's vocals.

~ Next we have DJ Snake again with You Know You Like It featuring AlunaGeorge. This is definitely a super catchy song. Although the breakbeat sounds kind of repetitive throughout the song, I'm enjoying quite a bit. One of the reasons is AlunaGeorge's vocals.

~ Charlie Puth debuted this week with Meghan Trainor. The song Marvin Gaye is a pretty catchy song. I'm really enjoying Puth's vocals. I've definitely heard worse from Trainor, so that's pretty good. This song is starting to slowly rise up the iTunes charts. Let's see how long it'll stay with us.

~ Bea Miller – Fire N Gold finally debuted the countdown! The loud beat that hits you in the chorus is something I cannot get over. I really like this song. It's definitely better than Young Blood and I hope it stays longer than that song did. "Baby we were born with Fire N Gold in our eyes. Eyes."

~ One Direction – Where Do Broken Hearts Go sounds like a typical One Direction song (disregarding it debuting all the way at #15). Like all their songs, I'll enjoy it for quite a while, then I'll get sick of it. But for now, I'm enjoying it.

~ "Give it to me, I'm Worth It!" This is my second favorite debut this week! It is hands-down Fifth Harmony's best! I'm still annoyed Hits 1 removed Kid Ink. But I'm still enjoying this solo version. It does sound a lot like Jason Derulo – Talk Dirty, but better! That's right peeps! I said it. Worth It sounds better than Talk Dirty! So that's that.

~ Now for the best debut! It is "F.U.N, fun" from Mr. Worldwide and the talented Chris Brown. It is a fact that Chris Brown can sing really well. It's just that his music doesn't show it. This is the kind of song his voice fits in really well, which is probably the main reason I'm enjoying this tune. Pitbull's part is good too. But he sounds like he does in all his other songs. The only thing differentiating all these Pitbull songs from one another is the featured artist. I want success from this song!

Hit-Bound
~ Here is the Hit-Bound list. I haven't done one in a while.

  • Twenty One Pilots – Tear In My Heart
  • MKTO – Bad Girls
  • Rachel Platten – Fight Song
  • Jack & Jack – Groove
  • Omi – Cheerleader
  • Ed Sheeran – Photograph
  • Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry
  • Los 5 – Manana
  • Shawn Mendes – Stitches
  • Just Seconds Apart – Unbelievable
  • Sam Smith – Like I Can
  • Years & Years – King
  • Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire
  • Becky G – Lovin' So Hard
  • The Mowgli's – I'm Good

Top 5 Hit-Bound Picks
1. Sam Smith – Like I Can
2. Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire
3. MKTO – Bad Girls
4. Steve Aoki/Moxie – I Love It When You Cry
5. Rachel Platten – Fight Song

Blurb It To Me, I'm Worth It
~ This is its second week on the countdown and Maroon 5 – This Summer's Gonna Hurt is already in the Top 10.

~ Tove Lo – Talking Body is in the Top 5! I don't think it'll get any higher.

~ During the past week, I've been really enjoying All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give. I had that song on repeat earlier this week.

~ Ryn Weaver – OctaHate and Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love both lasted only 3 weeks on the countdown. Short, but sweet. You both will probably be forgotten soon. Just being honest here.

~ Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk and Maroon 5 – Sugar both finally dropped out of the Top 10. Now let's work on getting Thinking Out Loud out of this countdown as soon as possible.

~ Words cannot describe how annoying Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman is. Every time that song comes on the radio, I change the station.

~ Thanks to Thinking Out Loud rising to #3, Sheppard – Geronimo is no longer the worst song on the countdown. But it does come in a very close second. I do often get sick of alternative songs, but none can compare to how sick I've gotten of Geronimo.

~ I don't see Magic! – No Way No staying with us for much longer.

~ Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out has been with us for quite a while now. I'm impressed by this.

~ D. Guetta/N. Minaj/Afrojack/B. Rexha – Hey Mama is now at #11! I want to see this hit Top 10. This song could possibly be my summer jam of 2015! Every time this comes on in my car, I turn the volume way up and jam out to it.

~ Let's just take a moment of silence to honor Hozier – Take Me To Church and its service for this countdown. Thank you. You will never be forgotten (at least by me).

~ Throwback Pick Of The Week: The Wanted – We Own The Night

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Nicki Minaj – The Night Is Still Young

~ YouTube Pick This Week: Calvin Harris/Taylor Swift – We Belong Outside (Combination of Outside and You Belong With Me): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ejP3o3PyPM

My Top 5 Picks
1. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj – Hey Mama
2. Pitbull/Chris Brown – Fun
3. Fifth Harmony – Worth It
4. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
5. Bea Miller – Fire N Gold

    1. And now for some random but still cool Weekend Countdown STATS!!!
Highest Drop-Off Ever: One Direction - Kiss You (#9)
Highest Debut Ever: Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe (#13)
      Highest Re-Entry Ever: Imagine Dragons - It's Time (#9)

Might I add that last one was actually on its THIRD RUN when it came back that high. :D

    2. Another stat: This week has the most exits since July 20, 2013.

      Delete
    3. Wow, I didn't notice that either! Thanks for pointing that out!
But... it wasn't the highest ever. :/
I guess that's okay though. Right?

    2. But there is a rule that songs from the same artist need to be at least 10 spots away from each other and both songs have Dj Snake in them.

      Delete
    3. No shake it off has been number one when blank space was number 3

      Delete
    4. T-Swizzle has occupied the #1 and #3 spots simultaneously on four separate occasions:
The first three were, as Jack said, of Blank Space at #3 and Shake It Off at #1.
The most recent one was at the tail end of March, and that saw Style at #3 and Blank Space at #1.

I also know that Naughty Boy/Sam Smith - La La La and Disclosure/Sam Smith - Latch were two spots away one week.

    5. I apologize if I sound like a know-it-all. I don't know it all. I've only been "actively" listening about a year. Many of us have been listening much longer. Adrian has been listening for about two years, and Dylan's been at it since at LEAST 2011…at least I think so…

  5. And now for part 1 of this week's review!
But first one question: With this many debuts, what are the odds that one of them's gonna be a #OneWeekWonder? I say pretty likely.

x15. Huh. This had a VERY different chart run from I'm Ready. (pink)
    x23. Thanks for trying. (blue)
x25. Well…Spyder's reaction was mine. (purple)
x26. Boy, what a run! (blue)
    x33. It was time. (yellow)
    x37. ABOUT TIME!!! (turquoise)
x38. This should've gone top 10. Alas, some things can't be changed. (pink)

Last Week's #1: It was pretty speedy (the speediest since Counting Stars and the Record Holder), but it's a good thing this one hit #1.

      45. I honestly hope this leaves next week. (yellow)
      44. Yyyyyyep. This song is not getting any higher. But it did peak pretty well for a top 40 #1 from a relatively new R&B (if that's what you wanna call it) artist. (red)
      43. This song's done. (yellow)
      42. I think it's safe to say that this song……went down……for real. (red)
      41. Note: If you saw "One Direction/Zayn Malik" on Lance's post, it's my fault. It's a joke that I put into the full countdown I commented on Lance's blog, and he left it in. I apologize for the confusion. (yellow)
      40. WOW AND JUST WHEN I LIKE THIS SONG THE MOST I EVER HAVE TO DATE (green)
      39. Hmmm…this one's alright. But, for those of you who've seen the video, doesn't it remind you of the video for 5SOS - She Looks So Perfect? (blue)
      38. I still love this song. And I'm not afraid to admit it. (purple)
      37. I hope this song leaves sooner rather than later… (turquoise)
      36. Wow. Chris Brown was the last person I would've expected to see on the Weekend Countdown. But, hey: if the Rolling Stones can do it, so can Chris Brown.
Okay, BACK ON TOPIC! This song's…well…I don't know. (dark green)
      35. That's enough. PLEASE. (yellow)
      34. OH, okay! (yellow - at least for the duet version)
      33. I did NOT expect this! But THAT'S FINE BY ME!!! (green)
      32. You've had your run, buddy. (yellow)
      31. After playing Countdown/Hitbound "Peek-a-Boo" for a couple weeks, it's finally here. What's interesting is that one year ago today, the lyric video for this song was posted on YouTube. Das cray. (blue)
      30. I didn't think this one would last long. (blue)
      29. This one will probably leave within a month…unless something happens… (blue/pink/?)
      28. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YAAAAAAAS I KNEW IT WOULD OUTPEAK TURN DOWN FOR WHAT (green)
      27. This one got stuck in my head a bit during the week… (blue-ish/green-ish/something)
      26. I don't think this one will be around much longer. (pink)
      25. I AIN'T COMPLAINING!!!! Yet… (green/pink)
      24. Alas…it's here. (gray)
      23. I know the drop was because of This Summer's Gonna Hurt, but WOAH!!! (yellow)
      22. Keep going, Shaggy and Co.! (green)
      21. If this hits #1, I'll be unhappy. (red)
      20. This is a good sign if you ask me! (green)
      19. More like DOWNtown Funk! AMIRITE?

{cut to endless symphony of crickets} (turquoise)
      18. Okay, this might go top 10, but it doesn't seem like a #1 anymore. (green/blue oblivion)
      17. I don't want Lance's prediction to be true. (blue)
      16. This might be gone before long…or not… (green/pink/?)
      15. WOAH WOAH WOAH THIS IS CRAZY I MEAN STUFF LIKE THIS AINT GONE DOWN SINCE…SINCE…since…since I can remember, to be honest. (green)
      14. Huh. One spot. A humble drop. (green)
      13. Hmm. Also down one spot. How funny. (pink)
      12. One spot? Again? Hmmm…something's up. (green)
      11. Oh. That's what's up. (red)
      10. I just discovered this song is playing on Radio Disney. Now that's something I'd wanna listen to. (green)
      9. Looks like this song has peaked. (pink)
      8. NEW PEAK, BABY!!! (green)
      7. Talk about a speedy exit. Well, relatively speedy. (yellow)
      6. This is officially this song's sixth overall week at #6.

      How INFURIATING. (green)
      5. Is anyone else unhappy that THIS SONG was the only thing blocking Andy from finally getting dat top 5. UGH. (orange)
      4. Please drop soon. (yellow)
      3. Apologies, but was this really necessary? (yellow)
      2. I would've liked to see this at #1 this weekend, thus continuing the streak. (green/pink)
      1. On Hits 1's Twitter page, you'll see that Charlie Puth sent a thank-you photo to Hits 1. Wizzy, however… (green-ish/pink-ish/I DON'T KNOW!!!)

      Counting Stars: 34-24-27-24-3-1
      Stay With Me: 42-14-12-10-6-1
      The Record Holder: 39-14-7-5-3-1

    1. Bye:
AJR – Infinity (#15) Purple; Seriously hits 1?
Ryn Weaver – OctaHate (#23) Green; That was quick
Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love (#25) Purple; This is absolutely R5 – Let's Not Be Alone Tonight (#26) Pink; It was about time
Sam Smith – I'm Not The Only One (#33) Blue; Finally!
Hozier – Take Me To Church (#37) Orange; YES THANK YOU HITS 1!
Zedd/Selena Gomez – I Want You To Know (#38) Yellow; This song was getting annoying anyways

      45. Ariana Grande – One Last Time (#44) Yellow; Just leave already

      44. The Weeknd – Earned It (#42) Turquoise; I have a feeling that this will jump sadly

      43. Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up (#36) Blue; Olly Murs is so annoying in this song

      42. Flo Rida and Co. – GDFR (#14) Yellow; Lets start to make our way out alright?

      41. One Direction – Night Changes (#30) Orange; This is SO old!

      40. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out (#38) Green; I'm surprised this is still here, but at least it is having success

      39. Charlie Puth/Meghan Trainor – Marvin Gaye (DEBUT) Purple; This is a super catchy song

      38. Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life (#41) Turquoise; Why is this jumping?

      37. Taylor Swift – Blank Space (#28) Orange; I now want welcome to NY or Out of the Woods to re-enter so this'll leave

      36. Pitbull/Chris Brown – Fun (DEBUT) Purple; Neither of their best but still a great song

      35. Nick Jonas – Jealous (#32) Orange; I think this is the oldest song on the countdown or maybe Centuries is

      34. Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down (#45) Green; Haha to everyone who thought this would leave

      33. Major Lazer/DJ Snake/MO – Lean On (DEBUT) Purple; Amazing vocals by MO

      32. Fall Out Boy – Centuries (#31) Orange; This has gotta drop a lot quicker

      31. Bea Miller – Fire N Gold (DEBUT) Purple; This is my favorite song by Bea Miller

      30. Magic – No Way No (#27) Green; Lets just say say goodbye now

      29. Meghan Trainor – Dear Future Husband (#22) Purple; THIS SHOULD BE IN THE THE TOP 10 NOT DROPPING!

      28. DJ Snake/AlunaGeorge – You Know You Like It (DEBUT) Green; A little repetitive but still a good song

      27. Cody Simpson – New Problems (#35) Purple; This is growing on me a lot

      26. Katy Tiz – Whistle (#24) Yellow; Don't judge me, its old

      Delete
    2. part 2:

      25. Ella Henderson – Ghost (#43) Orange; This is not even close to popular anywhere else

      24. Fifth Harmony – Worth It (DEBUT) Purple; Why does hits 1 remove Kid Ink in this one song he doesn't cuss?

      23. Maroon 5 – Sugar (#9) Purple; NOO!

      22. Shaggy/Mohombi/Faydee/Costi – I Need Your Love (#29) Green; Keep jumping

      21. Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You (#17) Green; This definitely should have jumped to the top 10

      20. Sam Hunt – Take Your Time (#39) Purple; C'mon, you can do this!

      19. Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk (#6) Orange; There once was a time when everyone was like: "Do like the new Mark Ronson song Uptown Funk?" Well... "First off, its not new, and I hate it"

      18. All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give (#18) Green; This isn't really "Hit music"

      17. Taylor Swift – Bad Blood (#40) Purple; This will probably hit #1 in a few weeks

      16. Sheppard – Geronimo (#16) Blue; Why did this ever jump?

      15. One Direction – Where Do Broken Hearts Go (DEBUT) Green; It's actually pretty good

      14. George Ezra – Budapest (#13) green; This aired quite a bit, I was expecting a jump

      13. Nick Jonas – Chains (#12) Yellow; I'm expecting a big drop soon from this

      12. Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman (#11) I'm also expecting a big drop from this soon

      11. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack/Bebe Rexha – Hey Mama (#20) Green; Top 10 next week!

      10. Maroon 5 – This Summer's Gonna Hurt (#21) Red; Probably Maroon 5's 2nd best song after Sugar

      9. Jason Derulo – Want To Want Me (#8) Yellow; I'm not smiling about this anymore

      8. Echosmith – Bright (#19) Yellow; This is starting to get overplayed

      7. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do (#4) Turquoise; This already is overplayed

      6. Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good (#7) Turquoise; Hits 1 keeps songs like this on their playlist for too long

      5. Tove Lo – Talking Body (#10) Green; Mark my words: This will hit #2

      4. Taylor Swift – Style (#3) Blue; This is such an annoying song

      3. Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud (#5) Gray; This is officially the worst song on the countdown

      2. Walk The Moon – Shut Up and Dance (#2) Yellow; You've had your time, now start to drop

      1. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again (#1) Purple; My aunt is going to a Wiz Khalifa concert next week
