Walk The Moon (1) – Week Of May 9, 2015

So Walk The Moon managed to achieve #1 this week. I'm just happy that it's not the crappy Sugar at #1. But we seriously need to do something about Uptown Funk and Thinking Out Loud. New Entrants
~ I don't see what is so good about Nate Ruess – Nothing Without Love. People apparently really like it. Nate Ruess' voice really only sounds good in certain songs. We Are Young and Some Nights from when he was still in fun. were songs where Ruess' voice sounded really good. But I'm not feeling this one at all. And did fun. break up or something? Nate Ruess has gone solo. Jack Antonoff created the band Bleachers who had the song, I Wanna Get Better. It's interesting how a band can split up.

~ Debut artist Ryn Weaver debuted with OctaHate. Overall, it's a super catchy song. It spent a while on Hit-Bound. So I hope it stays a while here.

~ Shaggy is back people! His biggest hit, It Wasn't Me, was definitely a song I had on repeat when it was popular. Now he brought in Mohombi, Faydee, and Costi to make the party jam, I Need Your Love. I definitely hope for some success from this song. It debuted on American Top 40 this week as well. So it's not only on Hits 1.

~ Carly Rae Jepsen brought us the 2012 hits Call Me Maybe and Good Time (w/ Owl City). Both of which were former #1 songs. She released her comeback single, I Really Like You in early March. I'm definitely enjoying this one. Even though the chorus is a little repetitive, it's a song I would definitely jam out to when it comes on the radio. Whether it's as good as (or even better than) Call Me Maybe and Good Time, I don't know. But I do think I Really Like You has potential to be almost as popular as the other two songs.

I Really Really Really Really Really Really Like Blurbs
~ Sam Hunt – Take Your Time and Shawn Mendes – Stitches both entered Hit-Bound this week. Pretty exciting.

~ Okay. Fifth Harmony/Kid Ink – Worth It needs to debut already. People are telling Hits 1 on Facebook and Twitter to play Worth It. Let's go Hits 1. Keep up with your hits.

~ Fall Out Boy – Uma Thurman in the Top 5 is a big fat no. Stop it. Now.

~ Ugh. Whistle (While You Work It) is in the Top 20. Please don't go any higher. Just please.

~ Can we like, not have Shake It Off higher than Blank Space? Blank Space must stay with us for a while longer.

~ Eden XO – The Weekend, Tori Kelly – Nobody Love, and Sheppard – Geronimo must leave!!! NOW!!!

~ I'm a little surprised Bea Miller – Fire N Gold didn't debut with the amount of airplay it got this week.

~ Sia – Elastic Heart literally does not air during the week at all. Literally the only time it plays is when it's that song's turn on Hit-Bound.

~ Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life is not popular anymore. Get out of here already!

~ Can we just like, get Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up out of this countdown?! I don't hear it anywhere else. And to be honest, it gets more annoying everytime I hear it. Instead bring in the song that is actually still on the YouTube15, Up (w/ Demi Lovato).

~ Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good clearly will not get any higher than #6.

~ Wow. When I actually started liking Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down, it falls to #30. How unfortunate.

~ Throwback Song Of The Week: Shaggy – It Wasn't Me (in honor of one of our artists that debuted)

~ To all the mothers out there, I hope you have a happy Mother's Day.

My Top 5 Picks
1. TIE: The Weeknd – Earned It
1. TIE: Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
3. Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You
4. Shaggy/Mohombi/Faydee/Costi – I Need Your Love
5. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do

  29. So this morning, I decided to have a little fun and used Google Translate to translate the intro for this post. I used the "standard translation method" (English-French-Spanish-Japanese-Swahili-Chinese-Hindi-Portugese-Danish-English), and here's what I got.

    The original:

So Walk The Moon managed to achieve #1 this week. I'm just happy that it's not the crappy Sugar at #1. But we seriously need to do something about Uptown Funk and Thinking Out Loud. They should not still be in the Top 10.

    Translated version:

With a leadership to a month this week is running. It is a great pleasure that you need to consider first I'm on, but there is no serious funk stool residential sugar. It should always be in the top 10th

    38. Please leave before I hate you. (yellow)
    37. I like this one. It needs more Steve Higgins, though. (green)
    36. STOP. (turquoise/red)
    35. Okay, as promised, here's my official opinion on this song:

It's a stretch to say I hate it, but it is kind of boring. (gray)
    34. Thank you for trying. (green)
    33. I've yet to hear Where Do Broken Hearts Go. a new "4-piece" version? (yellow)
    32. This was one of four songs whose hitting #1 made me VERY EXCITED. The other three? Love Runs Out, Thinking Out Loud, and…this week's champion. (pink)
    31. This song will not reach any higher…sadly. (green)
    30. Oh, okay. (green for both versions, solo is still better in my opinion)
    29. This has officially become "The Song We Can't Shake Off." If this breaks Too Long of a Title's record……… (turquoise/reddish)
    28. Huh! (pink)
    27. #SWEEEET (green)
    26. This had better not be the end. (green)
    25. Stay up! STAY UP! (green)
    24. I still don't know what to think of this one yet. (blue)
    23. …oh. (grayish/reddish/?)
    22. I suggest it'll leave within a month. (pink)
    21. This won't get any higher. (pink)
    20. I still want this to go top 5. (green)
    19. I can see this peaking around the teens. (blue/green oblivion)
    18. Huh. I'm surprised this is still going. (green/blue/pink/?)
    17. If this song's already peaked……I'ma be maaaaaaad. (green)
    16. Something tells me this song might hit #1. (blue)
    15. And this song's hit #1 on the Mediabase Top 40. I gotta say, congratulations to the Weeknd! (yellow)
    14. This'll probably peak somewhere in the top 10…I don't really know. (green)
    13. AND STAY OUT OF DAT TOP 10 (red)
    12. WOOP WOOP!!! (green)
    11. Hmm. I don't know what to think of this. (blue)
    10. Come on, are you gonna get any higher than #9 or not? (pink)
    9. Oh, you're back again. (red)
    8. Good! It's dropping. (yellow)
    7. I don't wanna hate you, man. (pink)
    6. I seriously hope this song gets higher than #6. Hey, #1 would be amazing. (green)
    5. Don't be surprised if this hits #1. At least not now. (blue)
    4. srsly? (turquoise)
    3. Never hit #1 again. (yellow)
    2. I think it might get one more week at #1. I don't know. (pink)
    1. One word:

    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS (green)

    This Week's #NúmeroUnoPorFavor: Andy Grammer - Honey, I'm Good.
Thatchos' Most Missed Song of the Week: OneRepublic - Love Runs Out
Song Not on Hits 1 I Recommend of the Week: Hozier - Someone New
Songs That SERIOUSLY Need to Debut on Hits 1 of the Week: DJ Snake/AlunaGeorge - You Know You Like It, and Alesso/Roy English - Cool
Song I Randomly Heard on the Radio of the Week: Neon Trees - Sleeping With a Friend
Music Video That…I Admit…I'm Actually Looking Forward to Seeing of the Week: Taylor Swift - Bad Blood
Throwback Pick of the Week: Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the Dark
Throwback Album of the Week: OneRepublic - Dreaming Out Loud

Sorry this song was so late! The last week of school is always a bit hectic!
I don't think I'll be able to post at the same time this weekend, so don't be surprised if the posts are as late as Sunday evening or even Monday.
But for now, Thatchos is out! PEACE!

But, when it comes to Taylor Swift - Bad Blood, I must admit: the music video looks interesting. I'm specifically excited about Kendrick Lamar's role. Since he and T-Swizzle are big fans of each other, I wonder what's gonna be in store… >:)

  64. You're wrong about Nothing Without Love, it's an awesome song, probably the best song by him since Some Nights, it's a very catchy song and Nate's voice sounds great in any song he sings. I don't know why you don't like it.
And Imagine Dragons with I Bet My Life may not be too popular anymore, but it doesn't mean people will stop voting because it's old, they vote for it because they like the song, and personally I still love the song no matter how long it's been out, people who are fans on the band or song are going to vote for it, no matter how old it gets
