Ellie Goulding (1) – Week Of April 25, 2015

The Morning Mash Up hosted the Weekend Countdown this weekend. I'm happy because they actually know how to announce things like Biggest Jump/DROP!!!, exits/entrants, and recaps of the last five songs after every five songs. Of course, they weren't as good as Spyder Harrison. But these are the people who make my morning commute during the weekdays something to look forward to. So they were entertaining. I wouldn't mind having them host again if needed. Aside from that, congrats to Ellie Goulding as she has achieved her very first #1 song on this countdown on her 5th try. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again (+19)

New Entrants
~ After spending about five or six months on Hit-Bound, AJR debuted with Infinity. I'll hand it to them by saying that it's better than their 2014 song, I'm Ready, in every way possible. But at this point, it is indeed old and I would be happy if it could leave soon. But with the debut all the way up at #22, I don't see that happening any time soon.

~ The 2013 song, Pretty Brown Eyes, is and will probably always be Cody Simpson's best song. His debut this week, New Problems, didn't wow me as much as I had hoped. But it's good. It's kind of slow, but Cody Simpson has nice vocals.

~ Katy Tiz debuted with the annoying Whistle (While You Work It). I'm not a fan of her vocals throughout the whole song and I also think the whistling is quite annoying. Of course that's just me though.

~ YouTube15 veteran All Time Low – Something's Gotta Give debuted this week. All Time Low really are just another undiscovered rock band. This song is pretty good. But I don't know if it necessarily belongs in a countdown containing the (claimed to be) Top 45 songs of North America.

Whistle (While You Blurb It)
~ Tove Lo – Talking Body is in the Top 10 on its third week on the countdown.

~ The Weeknd – Earned It and Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out both made some nice jumps that made me shout, "Finally!"

~ David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama should not be dropping. It should only be moving up.

~ God dammit Eden XO! How is The Weekend still here?! UGH!!!

~ Nick Jonas – Chains made a nice jump into the Top 10 this week. Could it possibly surpass the peak of Jealous??? We'll have to wait and see.

~ Just so everyone knows, Ryan Cabrera – House On Fire is still on Hit-Bound.

~ It's been months and Bea Miller – Fire N Gold is still airing on Hits 1 without entering either of the weekend shows.

~ The random songs playing on Hits 1 cycle continues as Heymous Molly – Life's A Beach aired quite a bit over the course of the week.

~ The only reason Sam Smith/John Legend – Lay Me Down is not in red is because Hits 1 plays the John Legend version. John Legend is the one who makes this song decent-ish. If Hits 1 played the solo version with just Sam Smith, then it would definitely be in red.

~ For whatever reason, Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again STILL hasn't debuted on American Top 40. Looks like they're behind on a song that is EVERYWHERE at the moment.

~ Speaking of See You Again, I was in the car with my mom earlier today and when this song came on Hits 1 with Nicole announcing it having the Biggest Jump Of The Week, I was in tears. The song is absolutely beautiful. Even my mom was kind of in tears when I told her it was a tribute to Paul Walker.

~ Carly Rae Jepsen – I Really Like You still hasn't debuted after two weeks of it airing quite a bit.

~ Hit 45 Chart for this week is out! Find out if Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again will hold #1 for a third week in a row: http://hit45chart.blogspot.com/2015/04/hit-45-chart-week-of-april-25-2015.html

~ I am indeed really happy about this week's #1 song. I wanna give a huge thank you to Hits 1 and all the voters who got this song to overrun Sugar at the top.

~ #1 Recommendation For Hits 1: Adam Lambert – Ghost Town

My Top 5 Picks
1. Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth – See You Again
2. Ellie Goulding – Love Me Like You Do
3. The Weeknd – Earned It
4. David Guetta/Nicki Minaj/Afrojack – Hey Mama
5. Marlon Roudette – When The Beat Drops Out

    9. A double entendre is "a word or phrase open to two interpretations, one of which is usually risqué or indecent."

As for the challenge…I'll come back to that.

Last few weeks you said Bright was okay, bad, great then okay, and you also said Lay Me Down was great, okay then bad for 2 weeks before saying it was okay again. So what do you really feel about those 2 songs?

x45. Now that was weird. And when I say "that," I mean this song's random resurrection. (blue)

    33. This will probably be its last week. Sorry. (blue)
    32. I so don't want to hate you at all. (pink)
    31. My official opinion on this song: It's alright at most. The production is killer, but the lyrics sort of dumb it down a bit. Even with its mediocrity, it still "sounds" like a smash. I'm sad, because though this isn't David Guetta's best, it is indubitably a smash in the making. (gray - sort of boring)
    30. I absolutely LOVE this new sound for Cody. As for the rest of the song…I'll have to listen a bit more. (blue)
    29. It's growing on me. A lot. (green)
    28. This one's fading. (pink)
    27. I like this one. (blue/green oblivion)

    23. YAAAAAAAAAS (green)
    22. Without a doubt my favorite debut this week! (green)
    21. This will either jump in the top 10 or drop to #44. (blue)
    20. Please get higher. For the sake of the original. (green)
    19. COME ON GO TOP 10 NAOUGHW (green)
    18. New peak, baby! (green)

    13. That's good. (red)
    12. PLEASE NO MORE (turquoise)
    11. Hopefully this song hasn't peaked. (green)
    10. No! JUMP! (green)
    9. I refuse to comment on this. (red - would've been orange if not for #42)
    8. YES YES GET THAT TOP FIVE (green)
    7. I'll expect a big drop by the time June rolls around. (pink)
    6. COME ON YOU HAVE TO HIT #1 NOW (green)
    5. No. (turquoise)
    4. I'll be pretty surprised if this doesn't hit #1. (green)
    3. You've had your fun. (yellow)
    2. Good. (gray)
    1. I had a dream a couple months ago that this jumped 20-something spots to #1. The latter half…has come true. (blue)

    4. No offense but I think rap music is great right now!

Like you got Truffle Butter, Nasty Freestyle, Trap Queen, See You Again, GDFR, know Yourself, Blessings, Ayo, Trouble, King Kunta,

Boy, that's a great group of songs!

      Delete
    5. See You Again, GDFR, and Ayo are the only really good ones out of the 10 you listed. Trouble is okay. But not necessarily good.

I hate rap music because most rappers rap about money, girls, and sex. Songs like See You Again that have meaning are the ones that stand out the most. Also, they generally sound the same. Those songs that sound kinda different are usually the better ones (Ayo and GDFR).

    6. Blessings is somewhat different. Also, does anyone else besides me like Omarion/breezy & Jhene Aiko- Post To Be

  44. I wish I found some better sounds no one’s ever heard
I wish I had a better voice to sing some better words
I wish I found some chords in an order that is new
I wish I didn’t have to rhyme everytime I sang
I was told when I get older all my fears would shrink
But now I’m insecure and I care what people think

My name’s Blurryface and I care what you think
My name’s Blurryface and I care what you think

Wish we could turn back time
    To the good old days
When our mama sang us to sleep
    But now we’re stressed out
    [x2]
    We’re stressed out

Sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when i was young
How come I’m never able to identify where it’s coming from?
I’d make a candle out of it if I ever found it
Try to sell it, never sell out of it
    I’d probably only sell one
It’d be to my brother, ‘cause we have the same nose,
Same clothes, home grown, a stone’s throw from creek we used to roam
But it’d remind us of when nothing really mattered
Out of student loans and treehouse homes, we all would take the latter

My name’s Blurryface and I care what you think
My name’s Blurryface and I care what you think

Wish we could turn back time
    To the good old days
When our mama sang us to sleep
    But now we’re stressed out
Wish we could turn back time
    To the good old days
When our mama sang us to sleep
    But now we’re stressed out

We used to play pretend, give each other different names
We would build a rocket ship and then we’d fly far away
Used to dream of outer space
But now they’re laughing at our face saying
“Wake up you need to make money”
    Yo
    [x2]

Starting right now I'll be strong

Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me

Losing friends and I'm chasing sleep
    Everybody's worried about me
    In too deep
    Say I'm in too deep
    And it's been two years
    I miss my home
But there's a fire burning in my bones
    And I still believe
    Yeah I still believe

    45. UGH PLEASE JUST DIE (orange)
    44. This will be the last week. I'm calling it. #GoodbyeFriend (purple)
    43. This is sad. (green)
    42. Guess which song joined the AT40 this week? This one. (Along with OctaHate, See You Again, and Honey, I'm Good.) But this is totally horrible timing here on Hits 1 considering how this song's "blowing up" now. (green)
    41. Goodbye in advance… :( (green)
    40. Okay, that's enough. (turquoise)
    39. And so Life of Dillon ROSE UP OUT OF THE ASHES!!!! ……for now. (green)
    38. You have served us well. (pink)
    37. When introducing this song, Spyder said this statement that was probably supposed to be a joke but is so painfully true: "And now for one of those songs we just can't shake off, back up 3 to #37……" (the most turquoise shade of turquoise in the history of turquoise)
    36. That's enough…I'm sorry. (pink)
    35. I'm calling #44 next week. (blue)
    34. You need to get out and be replaced by your baby brother, Someone New. (turquoise)
    33. I noticed that Hits 1 has started crediting Bebe Rexha for this song. Good move, Hits 1. Good move. (dark green)
    32. Why is there so much hate for this song? I know you guys think it's "ancient," but I still like it. (green)
    31. Please last a little longer! #Top20Please? (green)
    30. Now, I don't want to hate you. (turquoise)
    29. We all should've seen it coming. When was the last Calvin Harris song to "smash" on Hits 1? (green)
    28. I SERIOUSLY do not want to hate this song. (pink)
    27. Something tells me this one won't last long. (blue)
    26. I can see this having a run like Never Been in Love. (blue)
    25. This song has sadly peaked… (green)
    24. It's weird how this song's randomly holding. (blue)
    23. I'm calling that this is its last week. (pink)
    22. I now love this song as much as I ever have. :D (green)
    21. Huh. (green)
    20. Oh, dear, this one has hit #2 on the Mediabase Top 40. It'll probably be #1 by next week…sadly. (red)
    19. COME ON JUMP BACK UP (green)
    18. I could see this going top 10 for a week. But that sorta seems unlikely. (blue)
    17. Congratulations, AJR! You guys officially have hit a new peak on the Weekend Countdown! (green)
    16. I could see this going top 5… (blue)
    15. I predict this song has officially peaked. (pink for duet version, green for solo)
    14. OH YES THIS IS A GOOD THING (green)
    13. Okay, this is REALLY ANNOYING. (turquoise)
    12. Same as #15. (red)
    11. WHAT NO GET BACK INTO DAT TOP 10 (green)
    10. I do hope this song has peaked… (orange - #tied with #45)
    9. Look, will you get past #9 or not? I hope you do, but you're killing me by not moving more. (green)
    8. OH, OKAY!!! (greenish/blueish)
    7. THIS SONG MUST NOT DROP (green)
    6. That's more than enough. (yellow)
    5. Really? (pink)
    4. If all the Taylor Swift songs could leave the countdown on the same week, that would be great. (yellow)
    3. GET THAT NUMBER ONE OR I'LL FLIP OUT (green)
    2. I forgot to say last week: Congratulations, Ellie, on your first Weekend Countdown #1. :) (blue)
    1. Sorry, Adrian…that must've been a stupid birthday present…I know I was annoyed. (yellow)

This Week's #NúmeroUnoPorFavor: Wiz Khalifa/Charlie Puth - See You Again
Thatchos' Most Missed Song of the Week: OneRepublic - Love Runs Out
