Taylor Swift (1) – Week Of December 27, 2014

Welcome to the last countdown post of 2014! Can you believe this year has gone by so fast??? I sure can't. I hope everyone had a really nice Christmas. I'll be going on a mini vacation starting tomorrow. So I wanna get as much done as I can as I still have some end of the year related posts to post including Round 2 of the "Which Song Is Better? Competition", the results for the voting polls you guys voted for, and your end of the year countdown where voting has been going on for months. I also wanna try and post a special end of the year countdown for the Hit 45 Chart. So much to do, so little time. New Entrants
~ Ariana Grande returned after having two songs kicked out of the countdown on the same week. She's back featuring The Weeknd with Love Me Harder. As of right now, this song is really good. I just hope it doesn't become another Break Free.

~ Ed Sheeran is back yet again with Thinking Out Loud. It's a really nice song. I do think when comparing this song to what I thought of Don't when it debuted, Don't was better. I don't think it'll be very long until I get sick of it. So I'd appreciate it if Hits 1 doesn't overplay it like crazy or put it to #2 or higher.

We Blurb You A Happy New Year
~ Spyder Harrison didn't mention it, but I think Taylor Swift is the first female artist to replace herself at the top spot. But now that Blank Space is at #1, who knows how long it'll stay there? I really feel bad for Maroon 5 – Animals and Fall Out Boy – Centuries as their streaks of #1 songs may be cut here. At this point in the countdown, being stuck behind a Taylor Swift song is really bad timing.

~ Eden XO – Too Cool To Dance is in the Bottom 5 on it's third week.

~ Hozier – Take Me To Church is at #11. This shows that when a song makes a drop towards the bottom of the countdown, you don't know what could happen to that song. Don't believe me yet? Look at The Vamps/Demi Lovato – Somebody To You and Nick Jonas – Jealous.

~ Looks like the big jump from last week's Biggest Jump Of The Week didn't last long. Let's* hope it has some energy to make a New Year's miracle.

*By "let's", I really mean "I" because I know everyone but me thinks the song is old.

~ MisterWives – Reflections needs to leave very soon. How it jumped out of the Bottom 5, I do not understand.

~ Along with ReflectionsOne Direction – Steal My Girl, Echosmith – Cool Kids, 5 Seconds Of Summer – Amnesia, Tove Lo – Habits, Charli XCX – Boom Clap, 5 Seconds Of Summer – She Looks So Perfect, Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass, and Ed Sheeran – Don't need to leave the countdown!!!

~ Selena Gomez – The Heart Wants What It Wants needs to make jump into the teens and stop dropping into the 30's.

~ Looks like Olivia Somerlyn – Parachute won't be staying with us for very long. It was nice while it lasted.

Now for a mini Hit-Bound review.

~ To confirm it for everyone, Priory – Weekend is back on Hit-Bound. I know. Horrible. Magic! – Let Your Hair Down and Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up show no signs of returning.

~ Shawn Mendes now has two songs on Hit-Bound as The Vamps/Shawn Mendes – Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart) entered Hit-Bound this week.

~ AronChupa – I'm An Albatraoz is on Hit-Bound and it's really catchy. It reminds me of The Chainsmokers – #SELFIE.

~ David Guetta/Sam Martin – Dangerous is still on Hit-Bound. I'm starting to have doubts of it making its debut here at all.

This concludes our mini Hit-Bound review.

~ This week on the YouTube15 with Jenna Marbles, Jenna played for us the best songs of 2014. Some of the songs include Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando, Ariana Grande/Iggy Azalea – Problem, Shakira/Rihanna – Can't Remember To Forget You, Pitbull/Jennifer Lopez/Claudia Leitt – We Are One (Ole Ola), Calvin Harris – Summer, and Nicki Minaj – Anaconda. There were obviously more, but I'm don't feel like typing out the entire list.

My Top 5 Picks
1. Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame
2. Lorde – Yellow Flicker Beat
3. Taylor Swift – Blank Space
4. Ariana Grande/The Weeknd – Love Me Harder
5. James Newton Howard/Jennifer Lawrence – The Hanging Tree

OneRepublic – Year Of 2014

Hits 1 counted down their Top 45 today on Christmas Day. They did it differently this year than they did last year. Last year, it was based on the Wutchuwant Crew. But this year, it was based on airplay. I don't necessarily think this countdown was worth my time. Nothing made me really happy. But whatever. I will blog it anyways. So let's get to this year's Fresh 45. (NOTE: The parenthetical number, the number that usually indicates where the song was last week, in this case, will indicate the spot the song peaked at.)

Last Year's #1 Song: Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)
The Countdown
45. Zedd/Hayley Williams – Stay The Night (#7)
44. Lorde – Team (#5)
43. Justin Timberlake – Not A Bad Thing (#3)
42. Midnight Red – Hell Yeah (#13)
41. Rixton – Me and My Broken Heart (#2)
40. Jessie J/Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang (#3)
39. Ellie Goulding – Burn (#5)
38. John Legend/Tiësto – All Of Me (#2)
37. Avicii/Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up (#1)
36. AJR – I’m Ready (#20)
35. One Direction – Story Of My Life (#3)
34. Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong (#7)
33. Echosmith – Cool Kids (#4)
32. Paramore – Ain’t It Fun (#4)
31. Fall Out Boy – Young Volcanoes (#1)
30. American Authors – Best Day Of My Life (#8)
29. Pharrell – Happy (#5)
28. Glenn Morrison/Islove – Goodbye (#10)
27. Eminem/Rihanna – The Monster (#2)
26. Ariana Grande/Zedd – Break Free (#2)
25. Ariana Grande – Problem (#3)
24. Charli XCX – Boom Clap (#3)
23. Ed Sheeran – Don’t (#2)
22. Ed Sheeran – Sing (#2)
21. Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass (#1)
20. Clean Bandit/Jess Glynne – Rather Be  (#7)
19. 5 Seconds Of Summer – Amnesia (#4)
18. Fall Out Boy – Alone Together (#1)
17. Kongos – Come With Me Now (#2)
16. Sam Smith – Stay With Me (#1)
15. Magic! – Rude (#2)
14. Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (#1)
13. Passenger – Let Her Go (#5)
12. MKTO – Classic (#6)
11. Maroon 5 – Maps (#1)
10. Iggy Azalea/Charli XCX – Fancy (#1)
  9. Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight (#1)
  8. Imagine Dragons – On Top Of The World (#1)
  7. 5 Seconds Of Summer – She Looks So Perfect (#1)
  6. Imagine Dragons – Demons (#1)
  5. Katy Perry – Dark Horse (#2)
  4. OneRepublic – Love Runs Out (#1)
  3. Bastille – Pompeii (#1)
  2. Pitbull/Ke$ha – Timber (#1)
  1. OneRepublic – Counting Stars (#1) [1st Year At #1]

Merry Blurbmas
~ I'm kinda surprised Disclosure/Sam Smith – Latch, Calvin Harris – Summer, and Neon Trees – Sleeping With A Friend didn't make it into the Top 45.

~ As you can probably tell, some of these songs Hits 1 ranked appeared in last year's rankings. Songs like Avicii/Aloe Blacc – Wake Me Up, Fall Out Boy – Alone Together, MKTO – Classic, and Olly Murs – Dance With Me Tonight are all songs returning from last year's year-end rankings.

~ Yes, the horrifying AJR – I'm Ready somehow found a spot onto the Top 45. Very unpleasing.

~ I really think songs like Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong and Eminem/Rihanna – The Monster should've been ranked higher.

~ Maroon 5 – Maps was ranked at #11, the same spot in which Maroon 5 – Love Somebody was ranked last year.

~ Passenger – Let Her Go was definitely ranked way too high.

~ Midnight Red – Hell Yeah and AJR – I'm Ready are the only two songs that peaked at a spot lower than #10.

~ What do I think of our #1 song? I'm not annoyed about it. It's alright. During the time after it left the countdown, I started to enjoy it again. Will I be playing that song on repeat everyday? Definitely not. But it's okay to hear every now and then. Then again, I must look back at what I thought of the song when I first heard it. Technically, I knew the song before it even became popular, in case you didn't know.

~ I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. :)

My Top 5 Picks
1. Eminem/Rihanna – The Monster
2. Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong
3. Maroon 5 – Maps
4. Taylor Swift – Shake It Off
5. Glenn Morrison/Islove – Goodbye

A Special Hits 1 Post – The Top 45 Songs Of 2014

I know you've all been eagerly waiting for this moment. And it's finally here. The Top 45 Songs Of 2014! I took the time and went through every song to make sure that I was making the right decision on where I was placing it. There was a lot of good music this year. Although not necessarily as much as last because last year, there were so many good songs that unfortunately didn't make it on to the Top 45. This year, however, there aren't that many songs that got left out. There's no more than ten.

Here's how I formed the Top 45 playlist. Most people would probably just pick out 45 songs, put them together, and call it a playlist. I went through my countdown posts over the course of the year and I picked out every single song that I think could've made it on to the Top 45. Even if there were more than 45 songs. I probably picked out like, 50–55 songs. Then what I did was I gave them each an honest ranking from 1 to 10. Then (of course) I picked out the 45 songs that highest rankings and put them into the Top 45 from highest ranking to lowest ranking. I think the lowest ranking was 6.5 and the highest ranking was (obviously) 10. But before we get to the Top 45, I want to go over all the rules of the Top 45 that I carried over from CountdownRecap's blog.

~ First, only songs that debuted on the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown are eligible. If a song aired on Hit-Bound with Mikey Piff, Hits and Misses with Pete Wentz, or the YouTube 15 with Jenna Marbles, but didn't debut the countdown, it is not eligible.

Second, no songs that appeared in last year's Top 45 were considered for this list. I really wish I hadn't ranked Eminem/Rihanna – The Monster in last year's rankings because with how popular it was this year, it could've possibly gotten a really high ranking. I guess I just didn't think it would get that popular.

~ Finally, any song that debuted on December 6, 2014 or later was not considered for this list, but will be looked at first for consideration in the Top 45 Songs Of 2015. Here are the songs that debuted too late and will be deferred for either the 2015 Year End Rankings or the Bottom 5 Songs Of 2015.

  • Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin'
  • Charli XCX – Break The Rules
  • Mary J. Blige – Therapy
  • Bea Miller – Young Blood
  • Eden XO – (Not) Too Cool To Dance
  • Iggy Azalea/MØ – Beg For It
  • Lorde – Yellow Flicker Beat
  • OneRepublic – I Lived
  • Fifth Harmony – Sledgehammer
  • Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good
  • James Newton Howard/Jennifer Lawrence – The Hanging Tree

I think that just about covers everything that needs to be covered. Before we get to my Fresh 45 of the year, here are last year's Top 5 songs.

5. Karmin – Acapella
4. Hunter Hayes – I Want Crazy
3. John Newman – Love Me Again
2. Olly Murs – Troublemaker
1. Linkin Park/Steve Aoki – A Light That Never Comes

Ok. I think we're ready. Let's begin.

45. Taylor Swift – Welcome To New York - Ah Taylor. The only artist to have 4 songs in the Top 45. I can't tell you how much I love Taylor's transformation from country to pop. And this song is downright pop. It's really catchy. I thought this song was alright for the one week it was on the countdown. But it has quickly grown on me.

44. One Direction – You and I - Personally, I like each individual vocal solo (specifically Louis'). I really like this song. I actually recommended this song to some couples because it is a wonderful love song. And as a single guy, I really like this song and if I had a boyfriend, I would sing this song to him any day.

43. Ariana Grande – Problem - Nothing can reel you into the song more than that saxophone that starts at the very beginning of the song. It's a really good song that gave Ariana Grande the fame that she (at least somewhat) deserves. I'm kinda glad Hits 1 removed Iggy Azalea from the song. If they didn't, it would a little too much Iggy.

42. Hot Chelle Rae – Don't Say Goodnight - This song DEFINITELY deserved more. Way too underrated. It's such a nice song with a nice meaning, saying that you shouldn't worry about any day that's not today. Live like there's no tomorrow.

41. Martin Garrix – Animals - This is a really catchy EDM tune from a sixteen-year-old DJ (not to mention that fact that he's pretty good-looking). Well done Martin.

40. OneRepublic – Love Runs Out - "I'll be running. I'll be running! Till the Love Runs Out! Till the Love Runs Out!" One of OneRepublic's best. This song was a perfect addition to their album, Native.

39. X Ambassadors/Jamie N Commons – Jungle - "Won't you follow me into the Jungle!" I'm not necessarily a huge fan of Jamie N Commons. But this song got me turnin' up the volume on my radio. And that's one of the ways I rate a song. Whether it gets me turnin' up the volume or not. And this song passed.

38. John Legend/Tiesto – All Of Me - Another love song with the help of Tiesto, who actually has 3 songs in the Top 45 including this one. Like You and I, I would sing this to my boyfriend any day (if I had one). I think Tiesto really did contribute to it. I hated this mix at first. But it definitely grew on me.

37. Travie McCoy/Brendon Urie – Keep On Keeping On - This song is super catchy and is by far Travie's best. He really showed off not only his rapping skills, but his producing skills (stop me if I'm wrong, but I believe Travie produced this song). And let's not forget about Brendon Urie's amazing vocals. Well produced song.

36. Lady Gaga – G.U.Y. - For those who don't know, by G.U.Y., she means "Girl Under You". Not "guy". That would just be weird. Yes, this song is about sex. I don't know why I think this, but I think women sing about sex better than men. I do not mean this in a sexist way. "But that's just how I feel." (See what I did there?)

35. Phantogram – Fall In Love - This song is really creepy, but catchy at the same time. One of the best alternative songs on this countdown and one of the only to appear in the Top 45. It's a song I can't get over! I've never said that about an alternative song before!

34. Justin Timberlake – Drink You Away - This was one of the two songs that debuted last year, but was deferred to this year's rankings. It's one of the only songs from Justin that Hits 1 played and of course, it wasn't really popular anywhere else. It's catchy. One of my fave songs from JT.

33. Nico and Vinz – In Your Arms - This is a really catchy song from the amazing duo named Nico and Vinz. I love these guys. They actually sing about stuff other than sex. I'm so glad their name got around in the US and now (almost) everyone knows who they are.

32. Demi Lovato/Cher Lloyd – Really Don't Care - Though I'm not a huge fan of Cher Lloyd, I am a pretty big fan of Demi Lovato. This song is a good song to sing to your ex (unlike You and I and All Of Me). Just be like "Oh Oh Oh! I Really Don't Care! OH OH OH! I REALLY DON'T CARE!!!"

31. Mr. Probz/Robin Schulz – Waves - I used to listen to the original before this remix became popular. It's weird listening to the original now after listening to the remix a lot. Mainly because it's so much slower. This remix is good, but as I said in the past, it's quite repetitive.

30. Tiesto/Matthew Koma – Wasted - This is another catchy EDM tune. It has excellent vocals from Matthew Koma. There isn't really that much else to it besides the fact that it was #1 on My Top 5 Picks for one week.

29. Katy Perry – Birthday - The lyric video to this song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqYxyd1iSNk) is probably the most fascinating video I've seen this year. The song is a fun song to jam out to. I think she's secretly singing about sex since she brings up "birthday suit". But it's catchy. So it doesn't matter.

28. Olivia Somerlyn – Parachute - One of the best songs in the songs-that-are-popular-on-Hits-1-but-nowhere-else category. In fact, I'm always seeing posts from Olivia on Facebook saying to vote for her song on the Weekend Countdown. And apparently her fans are SomerLovers. Interesting.

27. Maroon 5 – Animals - That music video.......I can never look at Adam the same way. But the song itself is an A+ song. Maroon 5 never disappoints me. They are like, my favorite band of all-time.

26. Katy Perry – Dark Horse - Shockingly, this song actually didn't hit #1 on the Weekend Countdown, even though it actually should've. Yet the other annoying Katy Perry songs hit #1 like California Gurls, Firework, Last Friday Night (TGIF), and Roar. This song did decently well on the countdown.

25. Tiesto – Red Lights - "We could just run them Red Lights." The best from Tiesto this year. Sucks that this song only lasted 4 weeks. It definitely deserved more.

24. Gwen Stefani – Baby Don't Lie - She did a decently well job coaching on the previous season of The Voice (I'm still annoyed Craig won over Chris). This song is probably her catchiest (with Hollaback Girl coming in a close second). The short tenure probably wasn't necessary.

23. Calvin Harris – Summer - The summer anthem of 2014. I'm just assuming this song is the reason Calvin Harris won for best EDM artist at the AMA's. Really catchy tune that should've peaked a little higher than #10. It peaked at #3 on the American Top 40.

22. Taylor Swift – Out Of The Woods - One week. One week. A Taylor Swift song was on the countdown for one week. Even though it wasn't popular very long, two or more weeks on the countdown would've been better than just one week. Super catchy song from Taylor.

21. Nicki Minaj – Anaconda - My #1 guilty pleasure of 2014. The song is a little stupid since she's rapping about her butt (unless she's rapping about actual snakes). But it's fun to listen to and jam out to. It's good to twerk to in your room by yourself. If you want a more emotional song from her, look up Bed Of Lies featuring Skylar Grey. But you can't go wrong with the queen of rap. Iggy Azalea may have came to attempt to take the crown. But we all know Nicki Minaj is the queen and always will be.

20. Iggy Azalea/Rita Ora – Black Widow - Speaking of Iggy Azalea! Just so you know, just because Iggy's song has a higher ranking doesn't mean she's better. It just means this song is better. Rita Ora does a fantastic job in the song. It's really catchy. My mom actually thought she said "Black Little Baby" in the chorus and I'm like, "No. She says Black Widow Baby." That was pretty funny. What's that? I didn't say anything about Iggy's rapping in the song? Oh, I guess I didn't. It's alright.

19. Taylor Swift – Blank Space - One of Taylor's catchiest songs. Of course, it's another break-up song. But her songs have been really good since her transition into pop music. But the way she performs this song is the best. Especially when she says, "They'll tell you I'm insane!"

18. Sam Smith – Stay With Me - The super-emotional song from Sam Smith was good enough to be #1 just about everywhere, including the UK (of course). Even though it's kinda old now, I'll be looking back at this very inspirational song from this very inspirational singer and start to enjoy again like I did in the beginning.

17. Sia – Chandelier - As the first (popular) song from Sia as a solo artist, it scored pretty high. Higher than I thought it would. Of course, she was really good in songs like Flo Rida  Wild Ones and David Guetta – TitaniumBut as a solo artist, she is phenomenal. She's also written so many songs that we know today including Rihanna – Diamonds and Beyoncé – Pretty HurtsOne of the misheard lyrics for 2014 should've been: "I'm going to swim from the Chandelier! From the Chandelier!"

16. Rixton – Wait On Me - Although Me and My Broken Heart related to me better and was more popular, the popularity got me sick of it. It's Wait On Me that is the better for many reasons that I don't feel like going into.

15. Alesso/Tove Lo – Heroes (We Could Be) - Technically, it was Habits that gave Tove Lo the fame she has now. I wasn't head-over-heels in love with the song when it debuted the countdown (probably has something to do with its ridiculously long Hit-Bound tenure) and like most alternative songs, I get sick of it quickly. This wasn't surprising to me nor was it surprising to my brother. But when it comes to EDM, it never gets old. This song may be on my music playlist on my phone for quite a while.

14. Jessie J/Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj – Bang Bang - I love this song. It's so catchy! Jessie J is good. But when she brings Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj into the song, it becomes superior. Not only is this song featured in Jessie J's album, Sweet Talker, but it's also featured in Ariana Grande's album, My Everything. This was one of the best collaborations of the year.

13. Coldplay – A Sky Full Of Stars - As a person who's been a fan of Coldplay since he was a really young boy, I am not disappointed one bit by this song. Coldplay's album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, was probably the first album I enjoyed listening to non-stop. I like listening to this song and looking back at my past and remembering how much I loved this band. I will never turn my back on this band. Coldplay was one of the first bands I have ever listened to enjoyed and they will remain as one of my favorite bands. Especially after this beautifully produced song which actually features one of our fave DJs, Avicii.

12. MKTO – American Dream - Classic was a huge success for this duo. American Dream didn't get as far (it only lasted like, 3 weeks on the American Top 40). But it's somehow in the Top 10 on the SiriusXM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown at the moment. It's a really good song.

11. Eminem/Nate Ruess – Headlights - You can tell Eminem wrote this song to his mom, apologizing for everything he did. It's a beautiful song that deserved more recognition. The rapper does a great job in this song. So does Nate Ruess from the band fun.. Another great song from the King of Rap music.

Okay guys. We're getting into the Top 10. I definitely thought it through with all these songs you're about to see.

10. Glenn Morrison/Islove – Goodbye - This song is a song I bet half of you don't remember. This is the best song of the year that was only popular on Hits 1. Super catchy song that features the excellent vocals from Islove. I really wish this song had more success everywhere else because it is a really good song. This is a song that I will try my hardest not to forgot. But it shouldn't be hard because a song this good is too good to be forgotten.

9. Disclosure/Sam Smith – Latch - This is the song that got Sam Smith's name around. What is there not to love about this song. Disclosure even got themselves a little popularity from this song as well. Obviously this song was really popular in the UK. It was pretty popular in the US as well. It peaked at #3 on the American Top 40. Even though Stay With Me was his #1 song. It's this song that got his name around and got everyone excited for his album as a solo artist. People were prepared for his music after they heard this song. This was definitely one of the best songs of the year. I know a lot of people may disagree because the song is old. You kinda have to look past that and remember what you thought of the song when your first heard it. Not what you think of it now. But I absolutely love this song. When I first heard it, to me it was just another song. But then I started listening to it more and fell in love with it.

8. Zedd/Matthew Koma/Miriam Bryant – Find You - Yet another song that deserved more than what it got. What it got was only a few weeks here and one week on AT40. Super catchy song with the amazing vocals from Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant, artists who are also featured in other songs by Zedd from his album, Clarity.

7. Neon Trees – Sleeping With A Friend - The best alternative song of 2014. I believe this song had the capability of hitting #1 on the Weekend Countdown as it did peak at #4. The video wins the award for most random video that has almost nothing to do with the song, but is interesting to watch. Absolutely love this song.

6. Taylor Swift – Shake It Off - This song broke the record for most weeks at #1 recently. I know people are over-the-top sick of this song. But it's just too catchy and it has a good meaning that I wish my friend who doesn't like her understood. She's already had 4 songs on the countdown this year (including the two one-week-tenured songs). And if you have haters who are giving you hate, you just gotta shake it off, shake it off. Because the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate baby!

5. Maroon 5 – Maps - The band's comeback single is also probably their best song. Before this song came out, I anxiously awaited the release of the song. That day it came out is probably the day I listened to it the most. Then it debuted the Weekend Countdown the following weekend. Like Coldplay, Maroon 5 is a band I've loved since the beginning and a band I will never turn my back on. This band is probably my favorite band of all-time. The first song I heard from them was She Will Be Loved. From that song all the way to Animals, they have done nothing but improve. Of course there are those people who are like "I liked the old Maroon 5." To me, Maroon 5 just keeps on getting better.

4. Enrique Iglesias/Sean Paul – Bailando - Another artists who I've liked for quite a while. This is the only song to appear in the Top 45 from the "Pop-Latino" category. Kudos to Enrique and Sean for producing this song. I know I haven't really given credit to them, but we must also give credit to Descemer Bueno and Gente De Zona, two other artists featured in this song. Gente De Zona says a few words in the chorus in the English version of this song. But in the Spanish version, he sings where Sean Paul sings in the English version. Really catchy party tune.

3. Avicii/Dan Tyminski – Hey Brother - Hits 1 didn't appreciate this song as much as they should've. The music video really shows the meaning of the song. It has such a good meaning. I'm assuming it has something to do with loving your siblings. But aside from that, Avicii has done it again where he mixed EDM with a more folk kinda tune. What an outcome it had. The dance instrumental/interlude sounds phenomenal. I think this should've been a #1 song like Wake Me Up was in 2013. But this song barely reached the Top 10 in most countdowns (besides of course, the EDM countdowns). And let's not forget the artist that no one gives credit to. The amazing vocalist Dan Tyminski. Fantastic job with this song. Radio may not have loved it all that much, but I definitely did.

2. Nico and Vinz – Am I Wrong - This amazing duo made their debut in the US this year with the amazing song, Am I Wrong. The real question is "Am I Wrong for loving this song?" Hopefully, the answer is no. There is no limit to how much I love this song. It has such a beautiful meaning unlike songs like Iggy Azalea/Charli XCX – Fancy and Magic! – Rude. This song should've hit #1 everywhere. It's such a lovable song. I can't tell you how close this song was to being the #1 of the year. I literally almost made it #1. But this next song swooped in and took the crown.

1. Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame - As you guys probably expected, this song is incredible and definitely deserved this #1 spot. I loved this song before it even became popular. I loved this song before it was even released! Calvin Harris is officially the #1 DJ of 2014. He makes music you can dance to! I can imagine being at a club and hearing them play this song. Unlike the last two songs, this doesn't necessarily have a "beautiful meaning". But it does sound phenomenal. And I absolutely love John Newman! His vocals are out of this world! I'm so happy Calvin Harris picked him to be the vocalist in this song. After Love Me Again, I was afraid I'd never hear John Newman ever again on the radio. Of course, I would love to hear more of his solo music on the radio in the near future. But for now, I am enjoying this song. Sure, Summer was a bigger hit. But Calvin's vocals were a little sketchy where in this song, John's vocals are on point. No one could've done it better. No one. And that was my Top 45 Songs Of 2014. I hope you enjoyed.

A Special Hits 1 Post – 2014: A Year In Review

Wow. Just wow. What a year we had this year. We've had a lot of new music and overall, at least 75% of that music is good. Sure, we've had some bad songs. And we've had songs that make our ears bleed. I know I have. But I'll get to that in a bit. But first, we'll start with our breakout artists.

We've had A TON of breakout artists who debuted with #1 songs. Some were good, some were bad. I'm going to list all the breakout artists from this year. Please inform me if there are anymore than I put. This isn't completely accurate. So here we go.

  • Charli XCX
  • Iggy Azalea
  • DJ Snake
  • Nico and Vinz
  • Magic!
  • Tove Lo
  • Sam Smith
  • 5 Seconds Of Summer
  • Disclosure
  • Hozier
  • Meghan Trainor

Some of those artists have had #1 songs. Speaking of #1 songs, we've had a couple of songs spend quite a while in that #1 spot. And because of that, we did not have as many #1 songs as we did last year, unfortunately. As always, the majority of songs that hit #1 were good. I know there were a couple of random #1's that weren't popular anywhere else. But whatever. Here is a list of all the songs that hit #1 in 2014.

  • Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (12) [New All-Time Record]
  • Pitbull/Ke$ha – Timber (8) (9 Total)
  • OneRepublic – Counting Stars (7) (8 Total)
  • Bastille – Pompeii (5)
  • 5 Seconds Of Summer – She Looks So Perfect (4)
  • Maroon 5 – Maps (4)
  • Jason Derulo – Talk Dirty (2)
  • Imagine Dragons – On Top Of The World (2)
  • Sam Smith – Stay With Me (2)
  • Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass (2)
  • Taylor Swift – Blank Space (1)
  • OneRepublic – Love Runs Out (1)
  • Iggy Azalea/Charli XCX – Fancy (1)
  • Fall Out Boy – Young Volcanoes (1)

Although the countdown had a lot of good music. There was a lot of crap as well. A lot of that crap were songs that were good at some point, but got old because of radio overplay. (cough) Counting Stars (cough). But there were at least 5 songs this year that I did not like when they first debuted up to when they left. What's annoying is that some of these songs have had ridiculously long tenures. And I was annoyed whenever these songs came on the radio. So now, I present to you, the Bottom 5 Songs Of 2014 (#1 being worst).

Bottom 5 Songs Of 2014
5. Haim – The Wire
4. Jason Derulo/Snoop Dogg – Wiggle
3. Magic! – Rude
2. AJR – I'm Ready
1. Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass

Quite a few songs were on Hit-Bound this year, but never made it on to the countdown. I'd like to take time to recognize all those songs that weren't good enough to be announced by Spyder Harrison. Here are those songs. (Please Note: This list may not be completely accurate. There may be more songs I didn't know about.)

  • Calvin Harris/Ayah Marar – Thinking About You
  • Janelle Monae – Dance Apocalyptic
  • Chris Wallace – Keep Me Crazy
  • Peter Thomas/Betty Who – All Of You
  • Coldplay – Magic
  • The Chainsmokers – #SELFIE
  • Little Mix – Move
  • New Hollow – She Ain't You
  • Ellie Goulding – Beating Heart
  • 5 Seconds Of Summer – Kiss Me Kiss Me
  • Mayra Veronica – Mama Mia
  • Cris Cab/Pharrell – Liar Liar
  • Nicki Minaj – Pills N Potions
  • Pretty Reckless – Heaven Knows
  • Brantley Gilbert – Bottoms Up
  • Childish Gambino – 3005
  • Jake Miller – First Flight Home
  • Florida Georgia Line – Dirt
  • New Politics – Everywhere I Go (Kings and Queens)
  • Meghan Trainor – Title
  • Mary J. Blige – Right Now
  • Tiffany Houghton – Love Like That
  • Bebe Rexha – I Can't Stop Drinking About You
  • Magic! – Let Your Hair Down
  • Olly Murs/Travie McCoy – Wrapped Up

Now what I'm gonna do with those 23 songs is pick the best. Since CountdownRecap stopped blogging at the beginning of 2014, I'm gonna carry over what he did of his year end review posts and continue it for him. For the award of best song that hit Hit-Bound, but not the countdown, he called it the Lights Over Paris Hit-Bound Hero Award, in honor of Lights Over Paris (a band he clearly didn't like) who came out with a song called Turn Off The Lights a few years ago. The song made it on to Hit-Bound, but never graduated to the countdown. The song I'm about to announce is a song that I really liked. I liked it so much that I was sad when I found out that it didn't make it on to the countdown. So without further ado, here we go.

2014 Lights Over Paris Hit-Bound Hero Award Winner: Brantley Gilbert – Bottoms Up

Continuing to carry over CountdownRecap's awards, I'm gonna announce the song that made it big in the world, but of course, didn't debut on the countdown. Hits 1 did a pretty good job at picking out the majority of the hits this year while also picking out songs I most likely would've never heard before. There were a few songs that debuted on other countdowns that didn't on this one. But they didn't necessarily make it big. Songs like Lil Jon/Tyga – Bend Ova and Kendrick Lamar – I debuted on AT40, but not here. But it lasted on AT40 for only a few weeks. This award is called the Biggest Whiff Of The Year. So here we go

Biggest Whiff Of 2014: Jeremih/YG – Don't Tell Em

There were several songs that didn't necessarily make it big on Top 40 charts. What I'm going to do is announce the song that was somewhat popular, but if I asked a lot of people, they probably will tell me that they don’t know the song. I know some people know it. But it should've been a song everyone knows. It was originally going to be Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party. But that song just debuted on Hit-Bound as I'm typing this. But here is the winner.

2014 Song That Should’ve Made It Big: Brantley Gilbert/Justin Moore/Thomas Rhett – Small Town Throwdown

Tenure Trophies
~ Let's admit it. We've quite a bit of songs with short countdown tenures. These were mainly from underrated artists like Hot Chelle Rae. But when it comes to the Most Hysterically Short Tenure, 4 songs tied at (obviously) one week.

Shortest Tenured Songs Of 2014 (one week):

  • DJ Snake/Lil Jon – Turn Down For What
  • Taylor Swift – Out Of The Woods
  • Taylor Swift – Welcome To New York
  • Bastille – Flaws

Now the longest tenure of 2014 is a little weird. I'm putting the song that had the longest tenure in the calendar year. Really Fall Out Boy – My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) would be crowned for longest tenure as it did break the record for longest tenure (I think). But in the calendar year, the song I'm about announce had a ridiculously long tenure, even though it didn't last a full year. But it came pretty close.

Longest Tenured Song Of 2014: OneRepublic – Counting Stars (debuted: 11/16/13; left: 11/1/14)

Taylor Swift (12) – Week Of December 20, 2014

And just like that, we have a new record. Congrats Taylor Swift. This is our second-to-last countdown of the year. Ne-Yo hosted this week's countdown. I really think Spyder Harrison should be hosting all the holiday editions for sure. Last year, Britney Spears hosted the Thanksgiving special and it was a disaster. But whatever. Everything but the Top 5 changed this week. So let's get to it. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • Clean Bandit/Jess Glynne – Rather Be (#30)
  • Big Data/Joywave – Dangerous (#44)

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Ed Sheeran – Don't (–31)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame (+21)

New Entrants
~ Andy Grammer – Honey I'm Good is okay. Like I said many times. It's not as good as Back Home or any of his previous hits like Fine By Me and Keep Your Head Up. I can tolerate it though.

~ I just realized Hits 1 does not play the original version of James Newton Howard/Jennifer Lawrence – The Hanging Tree, which actually makes sense since the original doesn't have that much to it. The remix is good. I like it. That makes two songs on this countdown from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1 soundtrack.*

*The other is Yellow Flicker Beat.

Hit-Bound
~ Thank god Priory – Weekend left Hit-Bound. Because of this, that makes Kat Dahlia – Crazy the only bad song on Hit-Bound, making it the new worst.

~ Here is the Hit-Bound list:

  • Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud
  • David Guetta/Sam Martin – Dangerous
  • Megan Nicole – Fun
  • 5 Seconds Of Summer – What I Like About You
  • Ariana Grande/The Weeknd – Love Me Harder
  • Tove Lo – Talking Body
  • Pitbull/Ne-Yo – Time Of Our Lives
  • Imagine Dragons – I Bet My Life
  • Kat Dahlia – Crazy
  • The Script – Superheroes
  • AJR – Infinity
  • Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party
  • Hoodie Allen/Ed Sheeran – All About It
  • Becky G – Can't Stop Dancin'

Top 5 Hit-Bound
1. Shawn Mendes – Life Of The Party
2. Becky G – Can't Stop Dancin'
3. The Script – Superheroes
3. Ariana Grande/The Weeknd – Love Me Harder
5. David Guetta/Sam Martin – Dangerous

The Blurbing Tree
~ Thank you voters! Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame is higher than it's ever been on the countdown at #13. Now, let's get it into the Top 10.

~ Meghan Trainor – Lips Are Movin' is already in the Top 10. A little aggrevating. But also in the Top 10, it's Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars – Uptown Funk.

~ We're finally having an out-with-the-old-and-in-with-the-new clean up in the countdown. Rather Be is already gone, Bang Bang and Habits dropped into the 30's, Steal My Girl and Amnesia are both out of the teens, and Beg For It, Blame, Jealous, and Night Changes are now in the teens.

~ Maroon 5 – Animals needs to hit #1 soon. I don't want this streak of #1 songs from Maroon 5 to stop here.

~ Bea Miller – Young Blood and Eden XO – Too Cool To Dance both dropped on their second week. Yikes.

~ Fifth Harmony – Sledgehammer only moved up one spot. Let's go! You need to be higher than this!

~ Here's how I stand on the Year End posts:

– "2014 – A Year In Review" was completed earlier this week and will be posted either later today or tomorrow.

– I will create a new page for the Year End Polls later today. Stay tuned for that.

– I have received no info on when Hits 1 will be airing their Top 45 of the year. I'll get back to you guys when I find out.

– The list for My Top 45 Songs Of The Year has been completed and will be posted later this week.

~ Earlier this week, the 2014 Edition of Misheard Song Lyrics came out. You guys should check it out. Some of these are actually pretty funny. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI5fj8vmc44

My Top 5 Picks

2. Lorde – Yellow Flicker Beat
3. Taylor Swift – Blank Space

Taylor Swift (11) – Week Of December 13, 2014

So one of my favorite YouTubers is Connor Franta (you should check out his videos). I always watch his videos. He is super cute and I just this thing in the back of my mind that it would be cool if he was gay, and I was like 99% sure he was straight. Then earlier this week, he posted a coming out video where he admitted that he's gay. I'm so proud of him for coming out to the whole world, basically. That takes guts. And he managed to do it. Well done Connor. We all love you. As for the countdown, it's particularly that interesting. We have the same #1 song. Before we get to this week’s Fresh 45, here are the songs we’re saying goodbye to this week.

  • Iggy Azalea/Rita Ora – Black Widow (#32)

  5. The Vamps/Demi Lovato – Somebody To You (#6)
  4. Maroon 5 – Animals (#4)
  3. Taylor Swift – Blank Space (#3)
  2. Fall Out Boy – Centuries (#2)
  1. Taylor Swift – Shake It Off (#1) [11th Week At #1]

Biggest DROP!!!... Of The Week: Big Data/Joywave – Dangerous (–23)

Biggest Jump Of The Week: Maroon 5 – Maps (+28)

New Entrants
~ My least favorite entrant this week is Bea Miller – Young Blood. I think it's weird (in a decent/good way). (To me) she sounds a little bit like Lorde. But whatever. For now, the song is alright.

~ Next we have OneRepublic – I Lived, our only entrant from a male artist/band. The song is not as good as the former at #24. But this song does have a really good meaning to it. It means you should live your life to the fullest. And when you get old, you can say, "I Lived". Beautiful meaning.

~ Eden XO – Too Cool To Dance finally debuted. I was actually starting to get sick of it. But at least it's here now. (In most cases) better late than never. It's catchy song to play at a club. Like she says, "We're Not Too Cool To Dance."

~ Third best entrant this week is Iggy Azalea/MØ – Beg For It. I think Iggy's rapping is pretty catchy in this song. I don't think it'll be as successful as Black Widow and Fancy.

~ The second best entrant is Fifth Harmony – Sledgehammer. I think this song is their best. The beginning of the song can make you fall in love immediately. It's super catchy and I hope it stays for a while.

~ The best entrant is Lorde – Yellow Flicker Beat. This is amazingly catchy and is also featured on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Pt. 1). I absolutely love this song. I hope it becomes as popular as Royals and Team.

(Not) Too Cool To Blurb
~ Taylor Swift – Shake It Off has now OFFICIALLY tied the record for weeks at #1 with OneRepublic – Apologize from 2008. Can it hold on for another week and break the record??? We'll see. I hope she enjoyed her 25th birthday. Happy Birthday girl!

~ Maroon 5 – Maps is back in the teens. Most people probably wanted to punch their radio after finding this out. But I actually don't care. I actually still like the song. I have to say, overall, Maps is Maroon 5's best song. Stay up there as long as you like pal. :)

~ Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame aired so much this week, yet still dropped to #34. I can't be the only one who thinks this makes absolutely no sense!!! It's #4 on the American Top 40. Why is there is a 30-spot difference???

~ Ariana Grande/Zedd – Break Free needs to leave already. Love Me Harder finally debuted on Hit-Bound. Hits 1 needs to get that song in here and get rid of Break Free.

~ Oh my f**king god, 5 Seconds Of Summer – Amnesia needs to leave the Top 10 and the countdown!!!

~ Clean Bandit/Jess Glynne – Rather Be and Tove Lo – Habits thankfully dropped to the low 20's/high 30's. It's about time.

~ The big drop from Hozier – Take Me To Church clearly did not last long.

~ I actually think Iggy Azalea/Rita Ora – Black Widow was kicked out too soon...

~ This marks the first week since August 11, 2013 where we do not have a song by Katy Perry on this countdown. It's always the overrated artists who spend so much time on this countdown.

~ Since it's almost the end of the year, I decided to give you guys a blog update on how everything is going down. Let's begin:

– I'm currently working on my "2014 – A Year In Review" post. I plan to post it next weekend.

– I also started my Top 45 Songs of the year. It's so far pretty interesting. That will come out the weekend after Christmas (or sooner).

– I started to keep track of your guys' votes for Your End Of The Year countdown, because if I didn't start already, it would take a REALLY long time later. Especially with all the votes you're giving me. But that doesn't mean stop. Keep those votes coming. I plan to post that whenever before New Year's.

– I'll have some "End Of The Year" polls up soon. I'll tell you when I put them up. They'll probably be on their own tab on the top bar. We'll see.

Back To The Countdown.

~ I swear, people are overreacting a little when it comes to Mary J. Blige – Therapy. I don't love the song either. To me, it's just another song. But some people clearly will do whatever it takes to get rid of that song for good.

~ Priory – Weekend is soooooo bad!!!! It's needs to leave Hit-Bound and not debut the countdown.

~ The Script – Superheroes (thankfully) is still on Hit-Bound.

~ Selena Gomez – The Heart Wants What It Wants should not be dropping! I don't understand...

~ #1 Song Recommendation For Hits 1: Robert DeLong – Long Way Down

My Top 5 Picks
1. Calvin Harris/John Newman – Blame
2. Lorde – Yellow Flicker Beat
3. Fifth Harmony – Sledgehammer
4. Taylor Swift – Blank Space
5. Charli XCX – Break The Rules
